Good morning everyone!
Sarah update: So, I had four days off this past week and they were NOT very relaxing. There was too much social time. I love my friends and family, but sometimes (lots of times) I really just prefer to be home alone – reading, cleaning, playing Call of Duty, etc. I STILL have not gotten the chance to play with the new sewing machine I got for Christmas!!! Therefore, in February I am going to make it a huge point to get LOTS of relaxing alone-time in. Anyways, on one of my days off I got to do some shopping (okay, a crapload of shopping), and I bought this dress…

Cute, right? Except for me, picture a lot more in the hips and chest area… This picture was just one I found online. It was less than $40, and it actually looks really cute on me. It was the only dress I tried on that didn’t freaking squeeze me in every unflattering way possible. It hangs very well on me, hiding all that should be hidden and making my curves look nice and pretty. I’m planning on wearing it on Valentine’s Day. Which means that in the next two weeks I need to go buy a cute little gold-ish purse, and shoes. I HATE buying shoes, but it must be done. But yay! for getting a cute new dress!
What else… oh yeah, so my only day off this week is Wednesday. Someone took a couple days off, and I agreed to fill in for two of the shifts, which means I’m working 7 ouf of the next 8 days. And actually, since my workweek just started on Friday, I figured out that it equals about 114 hours spread over 9 days. Which is just a big can of suckola, but what the hell. Not only will the paycheck be SWEET, I also tend to fill in shifts when needed because, you know, it’s one of the few ways in which I’m a nice person. There’s only one other person that could have stepped up and offered to fill in, and she’s a douchebag who NEVER fills in an open shift, which means everyone else ends up working like 60 hours in a week, or doing 18-hour long days instead of just 12. I really don’t like her… Oh also, the honeyman is working swing shift this week, which means that he won’t get out of work until 8 pm, while I’m asleep. Which means I am going to be a very miserable, tired girl this week. Expect lots of whiny, complain-y tweets.
ANYWAYS. Because this week is bound to be horrible, I’m trying something kind of new. Instead of sleeping for like 4 hours, getting up, showering, and heading to work, I’m getting up over an hour earlier to drink coffee and eat and stuff beforehand. I’ve only been trying it for a couple days, but so far going to work nice and caffeinated seems to make me a more-easy going person, at least for the first part of the my shift. And I’m not as sleepy, so I get more reading done instead of watching DVD’s. Yay! So, we’ll see how this week goes, but I may have to turn this into something I do all the time for work. Also, I’ve been trying really, really hard to get AT LEAST 6 hours of sleep before getting up for work. It’s harder than you’d think – I get out of work at 2 pm, come home, and if I want to get a full 8 hours in then I need to go back to sleep by 3 pm. That’s the downside of 12-hour days, I suppose. But man I love those weeks when I have 4 days off, so it’s worth it in the end.
What else… that’s it in the Sarah-verse I think. I’m preoccupied with dreading work this week, and thinking of Valentine’s Day stuff for the honeyman. I’m thinking a pocket watch (relax, he already knows this). And I sent him some of the things I have my eye on here. It’s a V-Day tradition with us, he always gets me a weapon as a gift. Which I totally love
Bookish update: I’ve seemed to break out of my reading slump, thanks to The Neanderthal Parallax trilogy by Robert J. Sawyer. I’ve read the first two and I’m dying to read the third, but I had to special order it and I’m waiting for the bookstore to call and tell me it’s in. I can’t wait, it’s a great series and I love how much it makes me think. I have some of the author’s stand-alone novels that I really want to read as well, but I’m waiting until I finish the trilogy first. So, in the meantime I’ve started reading The Sisters Brothers by Patrick DeWitt. I’m about 50 pages in to it so far, and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. It definitely has that Western feel, which I like, but I’m not sure how I like the story so far. Also, this week is the final 60 pages of Norwegian Wood, thank-freaking-god because that book is BLAH.
Anyways, that’s all I got for today. Hope everyone has a great week!
