Hey there guys and gals!

 

Sarah update: So, I feel like not a whole lot has happened this week. I had four days off, but they FLEW by. I ran errands, did some chores, but I hardly feel like I got the relaxing day I was looking for.

 

This weekend has flown by too, luckily. I’ve re-watched the entire first season of Charmed while at work this weekend. I miss that show so much But it’s fun to re-watch it from the beginning and see the little inconsistencies – like when Leo is first explaining whitelights and the Elders, he calls them “the Founders”. And Prue mistakenly saying that their kids will be magical only if they have girls. The first season (or two) bug me though because Piper looks SO different – she’s too thin and “nice” looking when the show started. I like the Piper that’s more grown-up and bad-ass. And Pheobe is… Pheobe. Her look changes SO much throughout the show that seeing her look all young and baby-faced doesn’t really bother me that much, lol. And I’ve never liked Prue. I’m looking forward to maybe starting season 2 next weekend.

 

This week is going to be super-busy I work at Second Job on Monday, and hang out with my sis Monday night. And Tuesday is Valentine’s Day! Which means I still need to find the time to buy shoes and a purse to match my dress… although the weather may not be good that day, so maybe we’ll end up staying in?

 

I know a lot of people dislike Valentine’s Day “cause it’s such a commerical holiday”, but screw that. I love it. And really, what holiday ISN’T commericalized these days? I think it’s fantastic to have a day solely to celebrate love – whether it be with a significant other, friends, or family. And I always hear people get all bitter and mopey because they hate all the happy couples and that V-Day makes single people look like losers – it doesn’t. Take it from me: as one half of a very happy couple, I don’t look down on or pity any single people. I fully believe that you can be happy single, and that there are perks to being single rather than in a couple. So single people out there moaning about how much you hate V-Day: you’re the one throwing the pity party. Celebrate it instead! Have lunch with friends, visit parents or siblings, or stay at home and have some awesome alone time. If I ran things, Valentine’s Day would be a national holiday, complete with a day off from work and everything.

 

Anyhoo, I’m looking forward to V-Day because the honeyman and I both took the day off – we NEVER get a whole day off together because our work schedules are so different. I don’t care what we do, I’m just looking forward to hanging out all day.

 

Oh also – we finally got a decent amount of snow - 6 inches or so? I think it’s the most we’ve gotten at once all winter. The snow itself isn’t bad (I’m grateful we’ve had such an easy winter), but on the way to work last night I could not see ANYTHING. It was whiteout conditions, and there were times I wasn’t even sure if I was going in a straight enough line to stay on the road. It was horrible, I think that’s the only time I’ve been actually really terrified while driving in snow. I’d rather the roads be really slippery than not being able to see a two feet in front of me. I can’t wait to move somewhere warmer. 

 

 

 

 

 I’ve started reading Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson, although I’m only about 130 pages in right now (darn me for watching Charmed all weekend). It’s good so far though – it’s the start of a trilogy about the year 2026 and humans colonizing Mars. Since I am fully convinced that Earth is in bad shape and we will ruin in for good, mainly due to the fact that people WILL NOT STOP HAVING BABIES (I strongly encourage population control), I am all about attempting to terraform Mars. For those of you who don’t know what terraforming is, it’s the process of making an unhabitable planet habitable, and able to support life. Mars is the planet most similar to ours, at least that we’ve found so far. Of course it will never happen in our lifetime, because changing the atmosphere and landscape artificially is a process that would take centuries, it’s a really cool idea. So yeah, I’m enjoying Red Mars a lot, because it’s centered on that idea and it’s interesting to see how the first hundred people to be sent there are handling it.

 

 Hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze more reading time in this week, although I still have like 400 pages to go so it’s doubtful that I’ll be finished with it by next weekend… unless I get super-lucky and I get a lot less busy.
