Good morning and Happy Sunday!
Sarah update: Well as always, not quite as relaxing of a week as I’d hoped, but still a good one. Monday I ran a lot of errands and then it was game night, which was really nice as I got to drink a bit. (FYI, Hypnotic tastes really good with orange juice.) Tuesday can be summed up easily – SIX HOURS OF LAUNDRY. Wednesday I actually had a really nice visit with my dad – there was laughing and actual discussion instead of arguing and him just giving me a list of things to do for him. And I probably won’t see him again until around Christmas – his sentencing is in like 10 days, and then they’ll figure out where upstate they’re going to send him. Also, I made spinach lasagna rolls and they were super delicious. Thursday I didn’t do much except wait around for my books to come from B&N and then go workout.
And now I’m back at work. I’m working 72 hours this week, which is just going to suck big time. Oh and when I came into work today, I found out that somehow the door broke and won’t shut, which means I spent the whole morning getting up and attempting to shut it every time the wind blew it wide open. Hopefully that gets fixed ASAP. But no matter what, I’m pretty sure this is what I’ll look like by the end of the week…
I’ll try to get online to read blogs and go on Twitter a lot, but I’m going to be both busy and tired, so you might not hear from me a lot this coming week.
As far as a weight loss update, I’m down 17.2 lbs as of this morning. Only another 8 to 13 lbs to go! So hopefully by Christmas I’ll be switching to maintenance, and my calories for each day will go up a bit. That would be nice. I’ll still stick with going to the gym though. It’s cool feeling like I can walk or (heaven forbid) run without being COMPLETELY winded after 30 seconds. Plus, I kind of actually like my gym time now. I can bring small paperbacks with me and read on basically any machine, or I can listen to my music and get really pumped and pretend I’m being chased by zombies.
Holy crap, I can’t believe I’m actually saying that I like working out now. SO STRANGE.
Bookish update: Well, this week I finished the 2nd and the 3rd Nightside books, and yeah, they’re super awesome and addicting. I have the next two waiting for me, and I’m trying to show some restraint so I don’t fly through the whole series in a month and then get all sad because I have no more of them to read. I finished reading Coraline for Jenn’s readalong, and I’ll hopefully be watching the movie this afternoon / evening with the honeyman. I’m most of the way through this week’s Grapes of Wrath section, and I’m thinking things. (Plus researching things, like the Dust Bowl, and stuff, which is interesting and yay for learning new things AKA things you heard about in middle school and then promptly forgot.) Annnnd I’ve started reading The Diviners by Libba Bray, finally! I’m also kind of perusing How to Archer, in which the world’s greatest secret agent Sterling Archer tells you how to try to be like him. I’m borrowing it from the honeyman, and it’s a funny book so far. (I’m really looking forward to season 3 coming out on DVD.)
This sounds like a lot of reading, but it isn’t – those Nightside books and Coraline were really short. But still, it feels like I’m accomplishing a lot, so hooray! If I can finish The Diviners by about Tuesday, I might go ahead and re-read An Echo in the Bone, which is the most recent Outlander book. It’d be nice to finish re-reading the series by the end of the year, PLUS I believe the newest one will be out sometime in 2013, so it’ll all be pretty fresh in my memory.
OH OH OH and I heard about a Penguin-Putnam warehouse sale happening the first weekend of November, and it’s about 3 hours away from me… does anyone know if it would be worth the drive? Have you ever been to a warehouse sale before? It sounds awesome, but that’s a lot of gas, plus might involve me having to take a day off of work, so I’m undecided…
I hope everyone’s having an awesome Sunday! And have a really good week!
~Sarah

That’s awesome that you love working out now! I really, really hate it and have never been at the love stage. And if you did the Brad Pitt thing at the gym that would be a major WIN!
Yay for The Diviners! I bought that the other day because it just looked so beautiful. I guess this is a good time of year to read it!
Good luck with your 72 hour week!
The Diviners IS a really nice hardcover! It even comes w/ that little “newspaper” in the back!
The Nightside books and The Diviners are both on my TBR list. I’m glad to hear the series is so good!
The lasagna rolls look yummy. I love spinach.
Those spinach lasagna rolls are SO good. Treland doesn’t even like spinach & he loved them.
Those spinach lasagne rolls look RIDICULOUSLY good. Were they easy to make or whut?
Bluergh to too much working though
That doesn’t sound like it’s going to be much fun- but you can MAKE it fun! (somehow. Lots of reading?) Hope you have a good week anyways
They were actually kind of fun to make! And pretty quick to put together, too. If you don’t want to make them low-cal, you can just buy regular ingredients instead of the low-fat stuff the recipe calls for, but it was still really good.
Panda gif = LOVE.
Are you saying you’ve already read the entire Outlander series to date and are re-reading the whole thing? I’m impressed! I keep telling myself I will go back and re-read the first few and FINISH the series..but it hasn’t happened yet.
And…RESEARCHING for GoW!! Now I feel like I *should* be researching something…haha. OR, I’ll just wait and read your THOUGHTS on said research..yes, that sounds better
LOL yeah, this is my third time reading the Outlander books. I looooove them, they’re my favorite.
And I’m excited to talk about GoW stuff this week! I’ll share my researching in all my nerdy glory, lol.
Wow 72 hours in one week! Thats a a lot! Think of all the money you will earn. I am trying to lose weight also. I am weight watchers and am down 35 pounds since I started. Congrats on your weight loss!
Yeah I always tell myself I’m not going to take extra shifts because I hate working so much… but I just can’t pass up 32 hours of overtime this close to Christmas!
Congrats on your 35 lbs loss!! That’s fantastic!
Congrats on the weight loss and I am impressed you actually like working out. I want to get to that point but it seems so foreign.
Working 72 hours?? That is insane. If you don’t look like angry panda by the end of the week then I think that means you’ve actually had a nervous breakdown and have stopped responding completely. Good luck!!
It is really weird, and of course there are days when I don’t feel like going. But once I’m there, I end up kind of enjoying myself and you know, I don’t feel all guilty later for NOT working out, lol.
And I will look EXACTLY like that angry panda, don’t you worry.
Congratulations on your continued weight loss and the fact that you like working out!! I haven’t managed to accomplish that in my 41 years
Looks likea loooonnnggg week
Thanks
and yes, it’s going to be a very, very long week. I’m going to need a lot of sleep.
SIX hours of laundry??? O.O That is probably one of my worst household nightmares…
Good luck!
But yay for having a nice time with your dad! And spinach lasagna rolls sound AMAZING!
I think I look like the panda too after a 72 hour work week
Also: I’m so jealous of you for enjoying working out! Go you!
Yeah… there was a TON of laundry b/c I switched my summer and winter clothes. My worst household chore though? Cleaning the bathtub. I don’t know why, I just hate it, lol.
Congrats on your weight loss! That’s so awesome!
I’m glad that you had a good visit with your dad and I hope things continue to go well there. I know this week is partly over already but I hope it’s going well.
Thanks Jenn! And yeah, 2 days down and 5 more to go… this week is going to take FOR-EV-ER.
