Good morning guys!
Sarah update: Well, I had four days off of work, which was nice. I wasn’t very busy – did housework, shopped a bit, worked out, saw my big sis and my niece and nephew, etc. I’ve noticed that when I try to take a day JUST to relax and do nothing, I usually end up feeling indecisive and restless, because I feel like I should be doing something. Also, even on days like that, if it’s a weekday I have to go to the gym, which puts a damper on relaxing a bit. Gabby seemed pretty happy that I was home a lot though – I took time to hang out and read/blog/nap on the futon, and whenever I was there she was curled up with me.
Anyhoo, so my week was pretty lazy! This week won’t be – my little sis Amanda and L* are coming into town Monday night and spending the day here on Tuesday. Yayyy! Amanda NEVER has a day off, so it’s been ages since they’ve been here and I miss them. PLUS, she’s actually (finally!) considering moving back here. She’s only an hour and a half away, but it’s such a big difference and I hate the city she’s in. So I’ll be spending some time trying to help find a cheap apartment for her – I think the sooner we can find her possible apartments, the more likely it is that she will move back before the holidays. So, that’ll be my excitement for this week – and then Wednesday I’ll have the day to clean and hang out at home before going back to work.
On the weight loss front, it’s been a better week and as of this morning I’m down 13.6 lbs. I’m trying to get at least 3 days in of doing free weights, in addition to cardio at the gym. (Weights I do at home, it’s just easier.) Some of my jeans are getting a little noticeably looser – well, probably only noticeable to me, but still.
Oh, and in case you didn’t know, Cougar Town season 4 starts on January 8th. I CANNOT WAIT! They made a goofy video called “We’re Back” to announce it. (And look, I learned how to use GIFs!!! This seemed like a good pick for my first GIF in a blog post ever.)
Bookish update: Well, I finished The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde, which was a fun YA read. I’ve set The Casual Vacancy aside for now… which probably tells you all you need to know. I’m just not enjoying it right now. I have however started The Grapes of Wrath for Laura’s readalong, and it’s interesting… some chapters I hate, but some are kind of awesome, but I’m having fun thinking about it while I read. I think I’m going to go to B&N later today and buy my own copy. I wanted to underline something yesterday, but couldn’t cause it’s from the library.
Also, the Dewey’s 24-Hour readathon is next Saturday! And I don’t know how much I’ll be able to join in – I’m going to aim for at least my whole work shift (which means I’ll start reading before everyone else, but whatevs), but I might be talked into meeting Amanda and L that afternoon to go to a pumpkin patch… we’ll see. I was really looking forward to the readathon as an excuse to let the honeyman take care of dinner and to work on my pile of books to read.
Well that’s all the updating I have for now! Hope everyone has a lovely week
~Sarah
* Amanda texted me that pic of L (in the photo collage) earlier this week. Look at those blue eyes! What a cutie.

L looks so cute!!
I’m glad you had a little more you time this week!
My copy should be arriving soonish, I already was a bit hesitant about it…
I’m sad to hear you’re not enjoying The Casual Vacancy!
I hope you get to participate next week in the read-a-thon! It’s been so much fun the last couple of times!
Hope you have a great week, have fun with your sister and nephew! And yay for her possibly moving closer to you!
I have read some reviews that raved about The Casual Vacancy & really enjoyed it, but I’m just not at the moment. I do plan to finish it, eventually. I hope you like it!
Oh, yay for Cougar Town coming back!! I love that show! Oh, and definitely a good gif to share.
I’ve set aside The Casual Vacancy, too. It’s been sitting there for over a week.
Yay for the Dewey Readathon! I don’t think I’ll be participating in it this year, but have fun!
Have a good week, Sarah!
Yayyy Cougar Town!
It is a shame about The Casual Vacancy. I just don’t feel the motivation to read it right now.
Niiiiice first gif! Even though I’ve never seen Cougar Town… I just approve of topless duuuudes! Woop woop for lazy weeks hehe
Cougar Town is HILARIOUS. I highly recommend it. With drinking, if possible.
Oh, oh, oh! So close to putting The Casual Vacancy down right now too! I hate to do that because it was expensive but it is making me so crabby because I want to be reading something really good right now and this just isn’t it. Can a book start any slower? On page 118, I see a glimmer of hope, but I am talking a teeny, tiny glimmer. Love the GIF – I’m wanting to figure it out too.
I feel bad about not finishing TCV too – I paid $28 for it! And it IS slow, AND I don’t really love the characters. There’s so many, I’m lucky if I can just remember who’s who. But I totally feel like reading other stuff now.
Yay for your sister possible moving back to where you are! I know how much it sucks when siblings live far away. Those are such cute pics of your nephew and Gabby.
I’ve never watched Cougar Town, but I know that you’re a big fan so that is exciting as well.
I completely forgot about the readathon even though I’m signed up. I should make a note or something.
Yeah I really hope she does move back
She’s finally realized that there are no good guys where she lives, OR that they’re already taken, OR that they travel in the same social circles as her exes.
YAY for the readathon! Can’t wait
