The honeyman and his new Jeep, Gabby looking sweet, Gabby looking evil, The Casual Vacancy

Good morning guys!

Sarah update: I am SO glad that this week is over. It was so much more hectic than I expected. Monday was spent getting the honeyman’s new vehicle – a 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport, and he’s SO excited about it :-) and even I admit that it’s pretty nice. Tuesday I spent the whole morning cleaning like crazy for the Premier jewelry party that Steph and I hosted, and it was a lot of fun and I got to order such cute jewelry! Wednesday I visited my dad… I suppose I should give an update here. Basically he’s finally accepted a deal and he’ll be sentenced at the end of October and sent upstate for 3 to 5 years (or less, depending on behavior and all that crap). But while that drama’s pretty much wrapped up and I’m glad that soon I won’t have to go see him every week, we have other drama going on with him, regarding my grandma’s will. It’s a long story, but basically he’s contesting it because he’s a greedy bastard, and that was what we were arguing about during our last visit. I honestly don’t care what I get out of the will. The issue is that my father is basically constesting the will to try to hurt my mom (who took care of grandma for her last 5 years), and that’s where it gets really bitter. Oy. Anyways, I went home and took a nap, and then went and ran errands with the honeyman and came home to get about 4 hours sleep before work.

And those were all my days off. Ugh. Work on Thursday was okay, but Friday was an absolutely horrible day in which I was super-tired (went with my brother to my grandma’s grave the night before, because it would have been her birthday this week) and every little thing was going wrong. I have come to the conclusion that I’m starting to really hate my job – the 12-hour days, how dirty it is in our office thanks to drivers coming in and out all day, the stress… just ugh. However, I’m pretty sure I can’t find another job that pays this well and that will give me half of the week off, so looks like I’ll be here a while. Plus, the whole reading and doing whatever I want when it’s not busy part is nice, I suppose. Luckily this weekend at work hasn’t been too bad – it’s been slow, and I’ve re-watched the last half of season 1 of Once Upon a Time, because season 2 starts tonight. So I know my job has it’s perks, but still.

Gabby has alternately been a maniac and an absolute sweetheart this week. She was SO hyper during the jewelry party, which made a lot of people laugh. And Thursday night she ran around the apartment like an insane kitty and eventually got herself trapped behind the entertainment center. But last night she was all sorts of sweet and affectionate and chilled out.

On the weight loss front, I was down another pound or so earlier in the week, but as of this morning I’m right back to where I was last week. Thanks to game night, the jewelry party, and Wegmans never having their salads ready when I’m on my lunch break, I feel like I ate like crap this week even though I mostly stayed within my calorie goal. My workouts were pretty good, but not great. Plus I was pretty sleep-deprived. So yeah, that sucks.

This week will be better in EVERY FREAKING WAY. I have 4 days off and hardly any plans, so I’m going to focus on resting and relaxing, and getting back in my groove with my eating and working out stuff. And date night is tonight, which is awesome. I’m making chicken burgers, and we’re going to just hang out and watch The Big Bang Theory and then the new Once Upon a Time when it comes on. (Once fall comes, date night usually ends up being watching new shows, which is cool with me.)

Bookish update: Well, I finished two books – Devil Said Bang by Richard Kadrey, and Costume Not Included by Matthew Hughes. (I read Costume Not Included in large chunks at the gym while I was on the arc trainer or walking on the treadmill. It was nice to read while I worked out cause it was distracting, but it might have also made my workouts less… effective. But still, I was able to read while working out! Yay!) I haven’t written those reviews yet, and it’s weird to me to be behind in reviews. So, those will happen this week. I’m reading J.K. Rowling’s new book, The Casual Vacancy, right now. I’m not going to say anything about it until I finish it, but I’m about 1/5 of the way through it now, so hopefully I’ll be reviewing it later this week too.

Other than that, sorry that I’ve hardly been around this week. I miss blogging and reading blogs and being on Twitter a lot, and hopefully I’ll get to do all that stuff a lot this week. I miss you guys!

Hope everyone has an awesome week ahead of them :-)

  1. That’s too bad you’re not liking your job anymore — but you are right, the perks sound great! I would love to get paid to read and watch my TV shows! And, you know, work when I have to. :)

Still sounds like you had a fun week!

I bought The Casual Vacancy, too! I’m probably exactly where you are, 1/5th of the way through. I’m liking it all right, but it’s not anything special. It might take me a while to get through.

Hope you have a good week, Sarah!

    • Yeah, my job does have its perks. Its mostly just the stressful weekday shifts that are super-frustrating right now. Sometimes the calls are non-stop, & when we make suggestions to our manager and driver dispatchers that would help things run more smoothly out here, its ignored. But of course when there’s an error, its gets pinned on us, even though the changes we suggest could have prevented it in the first place. And then other little things, like having to work on ALL holidays for no extra pay, and constantly scrounging for office supplies b/c the company has gotten to stingy lately, etc. Its ridiculous.

Ugh. Cannot wait for the day when I don’t have to work anymore :)

  2. That really sounds like a stressful an tiring week, and I’m sorry to hear you’ve got so much family drama to go through. I hope everything gets solved soon and also that you have a nice relaxing week you deserve!

  3. Awww, I’m sorry you had a rough week! :( *hugs* Not liking your job can bring so much stress! I hope it either gets better or you can find something else that has the same perks, but less of the not so nice sides of this one!
It sounds like things with your dad are pretty stressful as well! It sucks that after someone you loves dies there’s fighting going on for what she left behind.
I hope you and the honeyman have a great time tonight and just hanging on the couch and watching TV is basically what the boyfriend and I do as well, especially when it’s cold outside ;)
I hope this week will be better and you HAVE to let me know what you think of The Casual Vacancy once you finish it!

    • Thanks Daisy. The stuff over my grandma’s will does suck. Like I said, I don’t care who gets what really, but ik I’m probably the only one, & it’s just an opportunity for the dad to attack my mom. Ugh.

Lazy nights watching tv are the best! Im going to enjoy it :)

  4. Sounds like you have had a rough week. But I’m glad you got to do some fun stuff as well and that Gabby made everyone laugh and that she’s a little lovebug.
Glad things are sort of settled between you and your dad. And that the honeyman got his new jeep. YAY!
Hope that this week goes better.
