Good morning everybody!
Sarah update: Well, not a whole lot luckily. Work, and being home, and that’s about it. I got to talk to my mom this week, which was nice. I’m not used to going more than a week without seeing her, but she’s having fun travelling and doing craft shows right now and after she spent 5 years staying in one place and taking care of Grandma, I can’t blame her. She’ll hopefully be home in a couple weeks, and hopefully she’ll stay for a couple days before heading out again.
I’ve been watching season 2 of Downton Abbey this week – I only have to finish the Christmas episode. I can’t believe I’ll have to wait until sometime next year to see season 3. This season is pretty good and has made me cry here and there, but it’s getting a little soap-opera-y for my taste. I hope it’s a little different next season. I’m also re-watching season 4 of The Big Bang Theory with the honeyman, cause he hasn’t seen it all yet.
This coming week should be relaxing and I’m hoping to get a lot of reading done. And maybe get some sewing or something done. I’m so happy to be back on a regular schedule. I stopped into LB the other day to pay my credit card bill and I saw my old manager. She really wants me to come back for the holiday season, and I told her I’d think about it and let her know by September when she’s starting to hire seasonally. Part of me is tempted to take it because I miss the discount and socializing a bit with the other girls who work there, but part of me doesn’t want to because I really want to just enjoy this Christmas. I’ve had to work on Christmas Day for the last two years, but I won’t have to this year and I am SO EXCITED.
Oh, and yesterday I finally put a ton of pictures from my camera and from my phone on the computer, which of course led to a lot of browsing and looking at older pics. We got Gabby about 3 months ago and she was so tiny! I miss her being this itty bitty little fur ball. She’s already starting to looking like a big kitty and she’s not even 6 months old yet. Seriously, I love her to pieces, even though she’s driving me crazy now because she keeps trying to dart out the door when we leave and can jump up to the counter now.
Bookish update: Well, last weekend was the mini-readathon and it was fun but I SO need to plan better next time. Also, it’s becoming obvious to me that it’s kind of hard to read with someone in real life during the readathon because you just end up talking a lot. Anyways, the Bout of Books readathon is in about a week and I’m very excited about that. I enjoy the weeklong readathons a lot.
I’m doing yet another readalong this month, this time it’s The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins, and the readalong is hosted by Alice. I already finished the first section yesterday, and it’s kind of awesome so far. I’m itching to read more, but I’m supposed to wait until at least Wednesday. I’m still reading Great Expectations, which honestly is starting to drag big-time. I’m over halfway through it and I really don’t want to quit, so I’m thinking I might go ahead and watch the DVD of it that I bought and maybe that will re-inspire me to finish the book. Oh and last night I started Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. I’m only 1 chapter into it and it’s okay so far, but I’m having trouble wrapping my head around all the new words and terminology that the author created. Hopefully it’ll just click soon.
Aaaaand I think that’s about it for now. I’m going to go enjoy the rest of the day, and then it’s date night tonight! I think we’re going to go see that comedy movie The Watch.
Hope everyone has a great week!
~Sarah

I still need to continue watching Downton Abbey! I started watching it, got about 4 episodes in, then completely forgot about it.
Love all the Gabby pictures! It’s only been 3 months??? They grow up way too fast. My dogs are like that — though my girl, Bailey, went from being a little 5 pound dog to 80 pounds. I loved it when she was little and I could cuddle her. We still cuddle, but I usually go to her level. No way I can pick her up now!
Sounds like you’re doing some great readalongs! I don’t know if I could host a readathon … it would be fun, but very stressful! I think you did a great job.
Your cat is adorable!
Before I even read your post, I said to myself that Gabby was looking much bigger in this post. They grow fast but she will always be your little kitty. Aww…..
I LOVED Shadow and Bone!! I hope it’ll click soon, I had to adjust a bit as well at first, but after that it was just epic… I so hope you’ll love it!
I hope your mom comes home for a bit soon! But go her for travelling!
Discounts are nice, but having Christmas off is REALLY nice as well!
I love watching series, but I really hate having to wait SO LONG for the next season every time…
Hope you have an amazing week!
Shadow & Bone is PHENOM! I hope it clicks soon for you. The world-building was so frakkin great!
Baby Gabby! ♥
Gabby’s adorable! I agree, there are some soap-opera-like elements in season 2 of Downton Abbey, i didn’t like that much, either. But i enjoyed the series overall.
Have a great week!
