Sarah Sunday!

Good morning!!!

Sarah update: You guys, today is my last day off this last crazy 60-hour work week! HURRAH!!!! I have 4 days off this week! And then I go to work for 3 days, and then I’ll have 12 days off! Seriously, best month ever.

So, basically this week has gone by in a blur. I only had Sunday and Wednesday off, so it was a lot of work and exhaustion. Wednesday was 4th of July, and that was a good day – we went to the honeyman’s family’s cookout at the beach and ate delicious food, and then walked over and got delicious ice cream, and the day was only ruined by the absolutely awful dead fish smell coming from the water. YUCK.

I also heard from my dad this week, and he’s making a dumb decision to try to get a shorter sentence, but might result in a much longer one. On the plus side, he’s already reading a lot – he was telling me about reading some Ted Dekker and Elmer Kelton books. This is exactly what I was looking forward to.

Yesterday I got to hang out with my little brother EJ, which was nice. I think the whole dad-in-jail-again thing is really bothering him. Plus EJ is going through some of his own problems, and I was just glad that he actually talked to me about it. In the past several years he’s grown more distant and closed-off, so I’m glad that we’ve been talking more. We talked on the phone for half an hour the other night, and then yesterday we went grocery shopping together, and then to the mall. So yay for that :-) Sadly, he wouldn’t do one of the photo-booths with me at the mall. Why does no one want to do the photo booth with me?

ANYWAYS, so glad this week is over. Of course, my 4 days off this week are already completely busy – little sis Amanda and L are coming into town Monday night and staying through Wednesday morning (although I’m ditching her Tuesday night for game night), Wednesday evening older sis Heather is coming over for dinner and a movie, and Thursday during the day I’m having some drinks with my friend and then we’re going to go watch that Magic Mike movie. You know, to support a movie FINALLY objectifying the crap out of male strippers, after years of movies about female strippers/hookers/etc. So yeah, that’s a whole buttload of socializing. But I figure I’ll get all that out of the way this week, so the following weeks during my 12 vacation days, I can be anti-social all I want. I likes my alone time.

And poor honeyman, cause that’s a lot of my family coming around and invading his space, lol. He’s a sweet guy :-) Speaking of, tonight is date night – yay! I believe we’re going to a Japanese restaurant and then going to see Ted, which looks hilarious. And then tomorrow during the day is my one day to be by myself, so I’m going to blast music while I clean and stuff, and hopefully go online a bit. Looking forward to it.

I really want to see this BBC version of Great Expectations now.

Bookish update: Well, I only read one book this week – The Pirates! In An Adventure with Scientists. And now I’m reading Great Expectations and The Graveyard Book. I’m liking them both, except I refer to the Sparknotes app on my phone a lot while reading G.E. just to make sure I’m understanding some stuff right. I’m a little over 1/5 of the way through it though, which is good. I’m hoping to get to 2/5 before I leave work today.

ALSO – Summer Mini-Readathon in 3 weeks! On Sunday the 29th. It’s still on. I should have buttons for it later today, and I’ll do a separate post for them then. So you know, keep an eye out.

Okay I’m off to read a bit more before me shift is over. Have a happy week everyone!

  1. Lots of family stuff going on! I’m a person who loves the quiet, so I think that would get to me after a while — your guy sounds pretty awesome!

Hoorah for the end of your 60-hour workweek! I don’t know how you do it … ;)

    Looking forward to the mini-readathon!

  2. Yay for the family time and your bro opening up to you. Even if he wouldn’t get in the photo booth with you (which is silly cos those things are awesome!)

How was Ted? I’m hoping to go see that soon, though I talked Boyfriend into seeing Brave first

  3. Yay for spending time with your family! It’s good that you and your brother are connecting more again, brothers and sisters are important!
Also, if we ever get to meet up, I’d totally get in a photo booth with you :)
Hope the days you’re working this week will be easy ones and you can start getting into the vacation zone!

  4. 60 hour work weeks?! Wowie.
I thought Ted was pretty funny. :)
Sorry to hear about your dad, but hooray about spending more time with your brother! That’s really nice!
