Good morning! Actually, good afternoon…
Sarah update:
This week kind of went by in a blur. The beginning of the week was horrible – I was only getting about 5 to 6 hours of very interrupted sleep a night, and then working 12 hour shifts training the temp. So not only was I exhausted, but work was both busy AND boring all at the same time, because I’m really there to “guide” the temp now – I just let him answer calls and kind of listen in, and if he has a question or doesn’t remember how to do something in the computer I show him. Luckily, this coming week is his last week of training, which also means it’ll be my last 60-hour workweek. Can I get a amen??? AND my vacation is this month, which means that I’m only working a total of 12 days in the whole month of July. If it wasn’t for this OT, it would be only 10 days. I have a feeling I will love this month.
Oh, and speaking of all this OT, I think it’s been kind of rough on Gabby. Whenever I’m home now she likes to be right near me at all times, and she tries to block the door when she sees that either me or the honeyman is about to leave. She even clings to my calf. It’s SO cute, she’s such a sweetheart.
Anyways, I had Wednesday and Thursday off, which basically meant I had two days in which to run a lot of errands, clean the house, do vast amounts of laundry, and take naps to try to recuperate a bit. I visited my dad for the first time on Wednesday, which was okay but also wore me out trying to figure out where I had to go and where to park, etc. I hope he gets sentenced soon so that he’ll move to another location, cause going downtown sucks. And then it was back to work Friday and Saturday, and I have to say that Saturday morning was infuriating-ly busy. But that was okay, because last night was my girls night with my friend Doni! A few years ago when her husband was still in the Marines and would go away for a weekend every now and then for drill, I’d come sleep over her house and we’d drink (usually a lot of tequila, but after last time we’re still mad at it) and play games and dance around her kitchen to the radio and eventually pass out. So much fun
Well we couldn’t exactly do that this time, because he husband isn’t away so instead him and Treland went out and killed time while we drank for almost 9 hours. NINE HOURS. That’s so long. But it was a really good night, filled with delicious food and amaretto sours, tropical punch rum, Hpnotiq, pink lemonade vodka, and even more rum cause it was yummy. And we played Yahtzee (I am AMAZING at drunk Yahtzee) and Scrabble and Star Wars Operation, and then played some Modern Warfare on the XBOX till the men came back and the honeyman took me home. So, I didn’t get to sleep until 5 am, which is why I’m really just up at noon now. (Obviously, I took today off from work. Yay!)
I’m kind of just killing time now online until the honeyman wakes up so that we can go get some breakfast, and then who knows what we’ll do for date night or whatever tonight. I’m still a little tired… and I have a feeling I’m gonna be tired most of the week. If I can just trudge through it though, I have four days off next week. Just have to keep reminding myself of that.
Bookish update: Well, I finished two books this week – the last chapters of Married With Zombies for the readalong, and I read and finished Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. Hopefully I’ll get that review up soon. I’m not sure what I’m going to be reading next – since I know I’ll be working and training tomorrow and Tuesday, I probably won’t even start anything until later in the week. I did go buy Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, so I’ll probably read that next.
Today kicks off Jenn’s readalong of The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, so you should go sign up! Reading starts today, first post to go up next week. I’ll start reading that this week, definitely.
Also, Laura kindly asked if I was still doing a mini-readathon this summer. I’ve been so busy that I hadn’t really taken the time to think about it, but I’m sure I can manage it, so mark it on your calendars people – Sunday, July 29th will be the Sarah Says Summer Mini-Readathon! Feel free to ya know, tell people about it, and hopefully I’ll have a button or two and some more info about it for you next Sunday.
And I think that’s it for me! I’m going to try to get some blog-reading and commenting done now, since the honeyman still isn’t awake. I’m hungry….
Have a good week!
~Sarah

Yay! I look forward to the readathon! So far I’m free that day, so I’ll mark it on my calendar.
And I’m soo excited for the Graveyard Book readalong! This’ll be the second readalong I’ve participated in — they’re so much fun!
I hear Gabby on her missing you woes … our cats are usually all over us (read: all over my husband) when we come back from vacation. They could really care less during the week, but I’m betting they don’t like being left alone with the dogs. The dogs, on the other hand, miss me when I step outside for a minute. They’re weird like that.
Anyway, have an awesome Sunday!
Your girls’ night sounds so fun! Drunk scrabble!
Poor Gabby not wanting you guys to leave her- I’m totally jealous of all your cat stories, but don’t ever stop them because CATS! I must live my pet dreams vicariously through you
Sounds like you had a well-deserved amazing night yesterday!!
I love hanging out with my girls, I mean, I love just being with my boyfriend, but it’s nice to have a little girltalk now and again and just be silly together
Also: yay for vacation this month!!
More time for you honeyman and poor Gabby!
(well, not so happy about that, but it means I can possibly read all day without feeling guilty)
Also, I may actually have time to join in on your read-a-thon this time!! I think it’s the day my boyfriend’s soccer practice starts up again
