Good morning ladies and gents!Sarah update: Ohhhhhh man oh man oh man! We got a kitty! Meet Gabby, everyone! So on Monday night while me and the honeyman were out shopping with my sister Heather, he got a text from a friend who asked if we were interested in a free kitten. His boss’s cat had kittens and she was giving them away. We immediately laid claim to the only grey one in the bunch (the others were white with grey or tan spots), and finally on Thursday night we got to go pick her up! She’s two months old (which is cool, it means she was born at the end of February like me) and she’s just the cutest little furball. Sadly we brought her home about 4 hours before I had to go to work, and then Friday night we went out to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and then I went back to work, so Saturday night was the first night I really got to hang out with her for longer than a couple of hours. I can’t wait to leave work and go home to hang out with her and Treland tonight She seems to be getting used to her new environment and seems pretty happy. She purrs like crazy when we come home after being out for a while. And we’re pretty happy too. I have been begging the honeyman for a cat for AGES, and I really never thought he’d go along with it – mainly cause he always said no. I guess he likes me a little bit
So right, other stuff happened this week too I suppose. Well, Amanda and L came into town Tuesday night and stayed until Thursday night, so basically those two days flew by. It was fun though – on Wednesday we dropped L off with my mom and her and I went shopping with my friend Doni, and it was a great day. I got a new game called Coffee Talk, which is kind of like Scattergories and a lot of fun. (Heather: next time we hang out we have to drink coffee and play it!) On Thursday I had to finish shopping for our friend’s birthday and Amanda and L tagged along while I ran around like a mad woman trying to finish that up. And then of course that night we got Gabby.
So, Friday night we went out for our friend’s birthday. We saw The Avengers, which was pretty awesome (duh, Joss Whedon was involved) and then we ate at The Cheesecake Factory and did presents and cake and then I had to rush home and get ready to go back to work. That was a rough night, but it was good times. My favorite gift that we got our friend was a DVD that Treland burned of all of the Epic Rap Battles of History. I totally want him to burn one for us. Also, yesterday after work was my nephew and niece’s birthday party! Josh is 7 now, and Emma is 4 (or, she will be in a few days). I can’t believe they’re so big now! Being the good aunt that I am, I got them each a book. Usually I get them a couple of books each, but this year I also got Josh a little kid’s science lab and I got Emma a big Hello Kitty craft set. We didn’t stay too long at the party though, because I was so tired and we wanted to get home to Gabby. When we got home I put on comfy clothes and then fell asleep with her on the couch. It was very sweet
Bookish update: I only finished 1 book this week, Sacre Bleu by Christopher Moore. I’m hoping to work on the review today and have it up tomorrow. Today I’m going to start The Cottage at Glass Beach by Heather Barbieri, which I asked to be part of the TLC Tour for and I’m excited about. You all know I rarely accept ARC’s, but I asked to be part of this tour because I read The Lace Makers of Glenmara by the same author a couple of years ago and really liked it. And then hopefully I’ll finally be starting Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore! I don’t have much to do this week until I work on Thursday, so I intend on getting lots of reading time in, hopefully with Gabby hanging out with me. And if I can manage to finish both of those books this week then I’m going to start another non-fiction book about something science-y, because I’ve been itching too. Also, I’m trying not to buy any new science-related books until I’ve read another one off of my shelves – otherwise I’ll have another out of control shelf at home of books I haven’t even read.
OK so that’s my rambling for this morning! I apologize in advance if my Instagram or Twitter is flooded with pics of Gabby this week… I’ll try to restrain myself a bit. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!!
