Sarah Sunday

I almost forgot to do a Sarah Sunday post. Whoops. I mean, not like that’s a big deal except I JUST started doing them again last week and way to forget that quick, Sarah.

Reading: I just read a bunch of comics that had piled up (Spider-Man, A-Force, The Ultimates, Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur) and I’m currently reading a post-apocalyptic romance novel called Radio Silence by Alyssa Cole.

Watching: We watched Spy last night, a Melissa McCarthy movie that I had never heard of until I saw it a few months ago on a list of “awesome feminist movies” of some sort. I’m really, really bummed that it didn’t get more buzz because it was hilarious and Melissa McCarthy is absolutely fantastic in it. My favorite part:

Listening: YOU GUYS. I used my Audible credit on the #HAMILTOME and so far it’s really really great. And I think Lin reads his own annotations, which I am so ready for. AND it came with a PDF of the song lyric / annotation parts of the book, which has been fun to look through. I’m going to get the paper copy whenever Amazon has it back in stock, but for now the audio is pretty fabulous.

Eating: At the moment, mini sweet peppers which I’ve never tried before and they’re pretty good. Glad I bought a giant bag to snack on all week.

Blogging: Keeping up with myself pretty well so far. I have to get reviews up for The Year of Yes and The Regional Office is Under Attack! – though I don’t know if I can review TROIUA because all of my favorite parts would be very spoilery.

Thinking: This was a pretty decent week. I worked out 3 days, which is the most days so far this year. Pathetic, I know, but I’m excited to get back into it. I’m not worried about counting calories or anything at the moment – I just miss feeling in shape and able to run a few miles.

Anticipating: Wearing one of my awesome new maxi skirts to work this week. Also – READATHON IS IN LESS THAN A WEEK, YESSSSS!

How was your week?

I watched the entirety of the new Daredevil show this weekend, and it was amazing. I didn’t even really mean to, I had zero interest in Daredevil as a character. But I heard a little bit of the hype, and on Friday night at midnight I wasn’t tired, so I put it on and that’s basically all I’ve been doing this weekend. Watch Daredevil, sleep, watch more Daredevil, and I finished it like an hour ago. OMFG it’s so good. You all need to stop what you’re doing right now and go watch it. Man I wish the honeyman had been here to binge watch it with me, but on the plus side when he gets back I’ll have an excuse to watch it all over again. Oh, and like I said, I originally had zero interest in Daredevil, so I haven’t read the comics and can’t speak at all to how the show compares, but clearly I’m going to have to read them sometime soon. Matt Murdock has infected my brain.

Anyways… first week at my new job! It went well – Monday was a little boring but the rest of the week was pretty busy, and I’m excited to dive in and start learning and doing things. I have to actively make myself be a little more social though – I usually tend to read or something on my lunch, but everyone usually hangs out and chats in the break room while they eat, so I made myself join them a couple times. Gotta get better at that. Also, my desk area has two walls that are basically giant mirrors, and it finally motivated me to get my ass up at 4 am on Thursday and Friday and go to the gym before work. I don’t think I’ll have a problem making that a consistent thing. For one, those mirrors are REALLY damn motivating. And two, I actually felt pretty good those days. Yeah yeah, working out gives you more energy, I know.

So. That’s about that. This week was kind of busy, and I’m looking forward to spending the rest of the day with my nose buried in books and comics. I’m reading Dorothy Must Die with my sister, and I have SO many comics to catch up on.

How is your weekend going? ARE YOU WATCHING DAREDEVIL YET?

~Sarah

PS – In that picture of Daredevil on my TV screen – LOL at Gabby in the top right corner. Creeper.

Happy Sunday, peoples!

  • There’s some stuff going on work-wise, that I can’t talk about yet. It’s most likely a good thing, but all making me very nervous.
  • My friend came over one night last week and we played Borderlands 2 for a good 5 or 6 hours. It was magical.
  • Game night got cancelled this week, so I went shopping with my sister on Friday night. And then I shopped again on Saturday… Got some really cute new work stuff, including a red and grey long striped dress that probably makes me look kinda big, but I don’t even care. It’s adorable. I think I’m gonna wear it tomorrow.
  • I went to Barnes and Noble on two separate occasions this week to use up my gift cards, and went to the used library book store, AND received my Ninja Book Swap package. I gained a ton of books this week, as we can see below…

image

  • I’m going to make 40 Clove Garlic Chicken this week. My mouth is already watering.
  • I’m thinking that when I get my taxes back, I may take $70 and sign up for Marvel Unlimited. A whole year for only $70 sounds pretty good (comes out to under $6 a month) and it seems like the cheapest way to read some of the older Marvel stuff I’m interested in, like the Miles Morales Spider-Man series, or Iron Man. Depends on if the app will function properly on my Kindle Fire…
  • That being said, I have SO MUCH comics reading to catch up on. I still have the new volumes of Saga and Chew just waiting for me. I’m so excited I think part of me is purposely “saving” them for the perfect time to read them.
  • I did finish a few books this week: I’m Not Racist, But… by Anita Heiss, Heaven’s Queen by Rachel Bach, and Stuff Matters by Mark Miodownik. Will I get reviews written? Who knows. I’d like to, but we’ll see.
  • I managed to go to the gym twice this weekend. Woo-hoo! Now hopefully I can get myself to go before or after work a couple days this week. I’m feeling pretty positive about it.
  • I love Sundays for the possibility of a call from the honeyman. I miss him like crazy.

Aaaand that’s been my week! How are you guys doing? Read any of the books I got this week? Any experience with Marvel Unlimited?

Good afternoon peoples of the blogosphere! This is just going to be a quick update, because I’ve been posted just about every day this week. Sick of me yet? 🙂

With the exception of having to work an extra shift on Tuesday, not much happened this week. I think that lack of sleep due to that extra shift ran me down a bit, because I felt like I was getting a cold on Wednesday and Thursday, but I seemed to have successfully fought it off. For now, anyways. So on all my days off I pretty much laid around the house and read and took naps, and eventually forced myself to do some cleaning and laundry, and that was about it. Exciting, I know. OH but we watched the newest episode of Defiance on Monday and that was exciting because two characters that I’ve totally been hoping would hook up finally did and I couldn’t stop smiling! And we watched The Office finale this week and I cried a lot and now I feel like re-watching ALL of The Office. That probably won’t happen anytime soon because I’m watching too many other things, but hopefully I’ll get around to it eventually.

Also this week, I ran 2 miles on the treadmill without stopping! (For me, 2 miles = 24 mins right now). So that’s pretty awesome. *high fives myself*

This coming week is busy because I on all of my 3 days off, I’m watching my niece Emma in the mornings and then taking her to school. She’s a cool kid so that’s alright, it just makes my week a bit more cramped. I might even see if she wants to spend the night at my place one night – she’s never slept over anywhere before so it would be fun.

Bookish update: This week thanks mostly to the Bout of Books readathon, I read my ass off and I finished 6 books – The Book of Lost Things, Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me, The Professor and the Madman, George’s Secret Key to the Universe, Lord of the Flies, and Prey (by Michael Crichton). I have some serious issues with Lord of the Flies – when I finished the book I just kind of shrugged, but as I was thinking later and writing down some notes for the review, the more I realized how much I didn’t like it. Yesterday after finishing that damn book, I couldn’t really decide what I felt like reading. I went home and looked at my books and still couldn’t decide… and then when I was about to leave for work I grabbed Prey by Michael Crichton so that’s what I read at work today. It turned out to be the perfect pick, because I practically devoured it and was able to finish it right after I got home from work!

OK I’m gonna go get ready for date night now… I’m soooooo hungry.

Hope you guys are having an awesome weekend! What do you have planned for this week?

Sarah Sunday! And Happy Mother’s Day!

image

L, Gabby, Gabby, and quote from Space Chronicles

Good morning peoples! And Happy Mother’s Day!

It wasn’t a very exciting week for me – I didn’t have many days off, and the ones I did have off were kind of busy. I went to visit my dad yesterday, and we chatted about books for a while which was nice. It’s SO funny to see people who aren’t usually readers suddenly get so into books. What else…

I’ve changed my treadmill intervals. I lowered the speed I usually run at, and I can apparently run for MUCH longer at that speed. The pace is about a 12-minute mile which is super slow, but I don’t even care. If I can just get used to running 3 miles (so 36 minutes) without stopping, I’ll be happy. I still haven’t started running outside yet, which I want to do but keep procrastinating on until I get new shoes (and because I like the gym). Also, for anyone that cares, I’m still maintaining my current weight. Surprising, as I sometimes feel like I’m eating SO MUCH, but there we have it. In August it’ll be a whole year since I started working out and that’s just super cool. Never thought I had it in me.

OH! We saw Iron Man 3 last week and it was good! Really good, except for the ending. Obviously I’m not going to go into spoilers, but man I don’t really like Pepper Potts. I also finally watched the Reese Witherspoon version of Vanity Fair and ehhh it wasn’t my favorite. Aaaand the honeyman and I started watching a new SyFy show called Defiance and we’re totally hooked. It’s about Earth being accidentally terraformed by this group of aliens and it takes place years later and the alien species (of which there are apparently 7) and the humans are trying to co-exist. And the main characters are Nolan and his adopted (Irathient alien) daughter Irisa, and it’s just so interesting and fun! I may do a whole Defiance post sometime later this week, cause there’s a lot to talk about there. But hey, look at me actually watching stuff! I don’t even remember the last time I watched two movies in one week.

So yeah, it’s Mother’s Day! My mom is currently in Florida and won’t be home for like a week, but Mom if you’re reading this – Happy Mother’s Day and you’re the best and I love you!!!

image

Mommy! With baby L.

Also Happy Mother’s Day to my sisters Heather and Amanda 🙂

And hell, Happy Not-A-Mother’s Day to myself (and all the other ladies without kiddos), cause I totally love that I can go home and have date night with the honeyman tonight and hang out and relax without kids crawling all over me.

The main reason I don’t have or want kids…

Bookish update: Ummmm I think I read 2 books this week – Space Chronicles by Neil deGrasse Tyson, and The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling (which let’s be honest, should hardly count since it’s a very short 100 pages). I’m almost done with The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly, hopefully I’ll finish that before I leave work today. A lot of people have mentioned how much they love this book – I’m still undecided. I liked it a lot at the beginning, but all this time in this weird forest place has been VERY strange… I have no idea how it’s going to end, and I think that’ll be the deciding factor in how much I end up liking it.

YOU GUYS, Bout of Books starts tomorrow! I have four days off this week, so I should be able to TOTALLY ROCK this readathon. My goal post will go up tomorrow morning.

Okay, I gotta go finish this book now. I’ll talk to all your lovely faces (blogs?) later. Have a great week!

Good morninnnggg! And Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Sarah update: I only had 3 days off this week, so it by in a blur. Tuesday night for game night we watched the first several episodes of Cougar Town season 4 and drank a whole lotta wine, which was wonderful. I found a new cheap wine that I love, Ravat 51.

My mom came home this week! She’s been off travelling in the south since New Year’s pretty much, so I’m SUPER HAPPY that she’s home and I’m hoping I can get her to stay for a goooood long time. My little sis and L also visited yesterday, so we went out to eat. L is a cutie.

Workout FAIL this week. I only went to the gym once. But somehow I’m still maintaining right around the 155 area, so that’s good. Definitely will be better about going this week.

Oh, Google pissed off a ton of bloggers because they’re getting rid of Google Reader by July. THAT SUCKS, GOOGLE. After trying to check out a bunch of the alternatives suggested, I think I’ve settled on Bloglovin. Everyone keeps pushing Feedly, but it doesn’t work well on my work computer and it seems app-based instead of browser-based. There were a couple others,  but they either also didn’t work well on the work computer, or you had to pay to use it, or something. Bloglovin seems to be working okay so far. I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

Anyways… yeah. Not much excitement this week. I MISS MY LAPTOP. Parts came in, so hopefully it’ll be fixed soon.

Bookish update: I finished HP&tGoF, and Vanity Fair, but that’s it. I’ve been reading The Map of Time by Felix J. Palma and I’m halfway through it… but I’m thinking about quitting it. I just haven’t been looking forward to picking it up… I don’t think I like the direction the story is taking, and I’ve only been reading a few pages at a time. I don’t know. After reading 300 pages I think I should just man up and finish it, but I also have a ton of other books that I really want to read instead, so we’ll see.

Good advice, Laurie.

Since I was struggling with The Map of Time, I decided to go ahead and start the third Ketty Jay book, The Iron Jackal. I’m about 100 pages in and so totally loving it, so that was a good choice. I’m sad that I haven’t gotten a whole lot of reading done since Monday. I’ve been really, really tired this week (combination of being busy and not sleeping well) and work has been busier than normal. I tried looking for a readathon taking place sometime this month to motivate me, but there’s nothing really going on until the Dewey readathon in April, it seems. Sooo…

I’m having my own little readathon on Wednesday. Let’s call it the Go-Away-I’m-Reading Readathon. I’m not going to clean or do much of anything except chill on the couch in my pj’s and read all damn day. Obviously since I don’t have the laptop at home yet, this isn’t an event that I’ll be doing a blog post about. I’ll be on Twitter and Instagram on my phone. If you have any spare time on Wednesday morning or night and want to read and chat on Twitter, feel free to join me! No prizes, no time constraints, no challenges – just reading and some socializing.

Anyways, I’m off to schedule a few posts for the week and then attempt to read. I hope ya’ll have having a lovely weekend!

~Sarah

P.S. I almost forgot – Epic Rap Battles of History has an app now!!! My mind = blown. And if you still haven’t checked out ERBoH, what are doing with your life?

Sarah Sunday!

Third Ketty Jay book came, Outlander coasters from my sis, and Gabby being a dollface 🙂

Good morning ya’ll!

Sarah update: Well I updated on Thursday on why I had been MIA for a bit there, so I’ll try not to repeat too much. Still waiting for the laptop to get fixed, so this is my last day of internet access until work again on Thursday. I have some posts scheduled though, and I’ll try to use my phone a little more to chat with you guys.

I had a follw-up appointment for my wisdom teeth removal on Friday, and dentist said it’s healing just fine and they gave me one of those irrigation syringes so that I can flush food out of the sockets easily. Which is SO GROSS and you probably don’t want to hear anymore about, but I totally cannot wait until these sockets close up completely. I’m paranoid about eating rice or anything tiny that might get stuck in there.

yuck

There’s some news about my little sis Amanda and L – they’re moving back home!!! She moved to a city about 1.5 hours away like 3 years ago, and she’s finally realized that it SUCKS there and she misses her family and friends, so she’s coming back by the beginning of May. I’m so excited! It’ll be so nice to see her and L a little more often. And mainly that she’s just leaving the city where she is now, cause it’s so crappy.

Workout stuff is going good. My intervals on the treadmill are now 2 minutes of running and 1.5 to 2 minutes walking, for 20 minutes. If that gets easier this week, then next week I’m going to aim for 2.5 or 3 minutes of running. I need to do more weight stuff though. My upper arm strength is SO WEAK. I just hate doing weights alone. Blah.

My darling Gabby appears to be going through her first heat. Apparently she’s a late bloomer, because according to the internet that usually happens anywhere between 6 months and 10 months old, but she’s a year old now. Anyways, she’s SUPER CRAZY affectionate, and she meows a little more often – not the loud howling I’ve heard people talk about, but just more often. She’s a quiet kitty anyways. She seems a little restless and just keeps walking around the house, and doesn’t really wanna play. Is this all normal-ish? We keep going back and forth on getting her spayed… if this is how her heats are going to be, it’s not annoying. She’s an indoor cat so there’s little to no chance of her getting out and gettin’ some from a male kitty. But the internet tells me she’s less likely to get cancer if we spay her… but some cancer risks aren’t affected if you spay them after their first heat… I JUST DON’T KNOW. I’m thinking about getting her pet insurance, so if she does ever get hurt or sick, it covers like 90% of all the costs… Is this how parents are with their kids? Searching the internet all night trying to figure out what the hell to do? Ugh.

NO GABBY, no kitty shenanigans for you.

Bookish update: I haven’t been able to finish any books this week. My last couple of weekdays off were busier than I expected, and work has been a little busy and all my downtime was spent online cause I’m internet-starved. I started The Map of Time on Monday and got about 100 pages in, but haven’t had time to read any of it since (what I read was good though). And I’m almost done with Vanity Fair! Only about 140 pages left, and the last discussion for that readalong is on Friday. And of course the last HP discussion for Goblet of Fire is on Friday too. So that’s at least two books I plan to finish this week!

If I can finish The Map of Time too, I’ll either be starting Moloka’i next, or The Iron Jackal. Let’s be honest, probably The Iron Jackal because I’m dying to read it. I don’t know how I’m going to make it to the fall when the fourth book comes out. Have you started the Ketty Jay series yet? Cause you need to.

Okay, I’m off to do some blog readin’ and then some work. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Fondue! / V-Day display at grocery store / Gabby! / My V-day flowers and balloon / The honeyman and I

Good morning!

Sarah update: Well, I had a relatively good week. A little busy here and there, but overall good. AND Thursday was Valentine’s Day, which was obviously the most exciting part!

The honeyman and I both took V-Day off, because I really love V-Day and we don’t usually have a whole day off together. He brought home a balloon and flowers for me the night before, and then V-Day morning we exchanged cards & presents (well, my main present actually didn’t come until Friday) and then went and worked out at the gym. We then went and picked up our taxes from the accountant, and then we saw Warm Bodies. You guys, Warm Bodies was SO GOOD. It put an interesting spin on zombies, it was funny, and it was sweet. Totally worth buying the DVD later. Aaaaand now I want to read the book, which I’ve heard is a bit darker but probably still good.

Anyways, after the movie we went to The Melting Pot. The honeyman made reservations for us two weeks ahead of time, so YAY him for being awesome. The Melting Pot was amazing. We sat in a little alcove booth that was so cozy and private. The food was AH-MAZ-ING. Like, I get fondue now. I’ve dunked stuff in chocolate before, and it was okay. This was fantastic. There were 4 courses, all super delicious. The service was awesome. They came and took our picture and put it in a little frame (part of the V-Day package), and also brought over two glasses of champagne. And seriously – THE FOOD. Dipping a perfect bite of cheesecake into melted milk chocolate and peanut butter may be the best thing I’ve ever tasted.

After dinner we went home, played Black Ops 2, and had some nice cozy time before I had to get up and get ready for work. Yeah, I had to work at 2 am on Friday… really should have thought about that, but oh well. Work on Friday sucked because I was super-tired, but V-Day was awesome and that’s all that matters. I love spending time with the honeyman. I must like him or something.

Oh, and my main V-Day present?

Gerber 31-000705 Gator Machete Pro, Nylon Sheath

He gets me.

He gets me a weapon for V-day every year, and this is what I asked for this year. Glen uses something like this in The Walking Dead. AWESOME.

Worked out a few times this week, and my treadmill intervals are STILL kicking my ass. But instead of alternating 1 minute walking and 1 minute running for 20 minutes or so, now I’m alternating walking for 1.5 minutes and running for 1.5 minutes, for 20 to 25 minutes. Soooo, that’s good I guess? I don’t think I’m ever going to be a “runner”, but it’s a fun challenge I suppose. Oh and I’m still maintaining my weight, so that’s cool.

This coming week I’m working 68 to 74 hours, which is going to suck. I spent time this weekend trying to get a little ahead on posts. But reading might be slow this week (whatever, it’s been a bit slow all month), and my internet time will be somewhat limited. Don’t miss me too much.

How I'll probably feel at the end of this week...

How I’ll probably feel at the end of this week…

What’s good is that after next Sunday, I’ll have NINE days off. Sure, at least half of that will be spent recovering from having my wisdom teeth taken out, but at least I won’t be at work!

Bookish update: Ummmm yeah. The only book I finished this week was the third Harry Potter book for the readalong. Oh, and I finished One Good Earl Deserves a Lover last Sunday while I was at work, but that was just a fluffy mindless read and barely worth reviewing, even though I did.

I started The Prince and The Pauper last weekend… ugh. I got like 70 pages in, and I don’t know if I’m going to bother reading the last 120 pages or so. It’s so SLOW. Just proves that picking the shortest classics doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be easier to read than longer ones.

I finally got to start the second Ketty Jay book, The Black Lung Captain. Hooray! I’m about 2/3 of the way through it now. Loving these books. I even named my V-Day stuffed puppy Darian Frey after the captain in this series (and yes, the honeyman gets me stuffed animals for V-Day too, and I usually name them after a male character from books or movies I’m loving at the time). I’m going to try to fit in Me Before You and/or The Martian Chronicles this week, if work isn’t too hectic and annoying. (Rebecca, interested in reading The Martian Chronicles this week? I remember you mentioned maybe reading it together!)

OH and yesterday I decided to sign up for the Vanity Fair readalong. It’s going to be tough to cram the first half of the book into the next two weeks, but I really want to feel like I’m making progress on my Classics Club list and I’ve heard good things.

And finally, some links to interesting stuff:

Alright folks, I’m off to do worky stuff now. Enjoy your Sunday!!!

Good morning 🙂

Sarah update: What an odd week. Not in that anything particularly weird happened or anything, but it’s just how I feel. Well okay, Monday and Tuesday I don’t think I did a whole lot of anything except clean, read, and blog. Oh, and I made cupcakes on Tuesday (they turned out okay). Wednesday I felt really lazy and sleepy most of the day, and didn’t feel like doing much. And Thursday I finally realized that I was getting sick, and after about 5 loads of laundry I called it quits and fell asleep on the couch. Work on Friday wasn’t great, I was still feeling sick plus I had to train someone so that he can fill in out here when there’s a shift that no one can cover. And of course Friday that giant snowstorm came across my area and dumped around 10 inches of snow on us – it took me over an hour to get home after work, and when I finally made it home and pulled into a parking space, my car got stuck. Yesterday I was feeling better and work wasn’t too busy, but after work the honeyman and I had to run a bunch of errands (drop off tax stuff, shop for a baby shower, come home and dig my car out, etc) and so today I’m kind of exhausted.

My treadmill intervals this week seemed like they were going better – my legs definitely recovered faster in between Monday and Wednesday at the gym. But getting sick and then all this stupid snow means I didn’t get to go to the gym a third time, so that sucks. Hopefully this week will be more consistent.

I’m looking forward to this week. Well, Once Upon a Time and The Walking Dead are both on tonight, so that’s awesome. I have four days off again, because it’s Valentine’s Day this week! I love V-Day. And I’m going to try to relax as much as possible, because the last two weeks of the month are going to be insanely busy for me. I’m aiming to schedule a lot of posts and stuff ahead of time.

Bookish update: I only finished one book this week – Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding which was fantastic and you all should read it. It was SO good that I immediately wanted to read the sequel but couldn’t because the library didn’t have it and I was too broke to buy it. This kind of left me in that “book hangover” stage, in which I went ahead and read the first half of HP&tPoA because it’s HP and always good, but I didn’t feel like starting anything else. I finally did start two books on Friday – The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain, and One Good Earl Deserves a Lover by Sarah MacLean.

Yesterday while we were running errands we went to the big fancy B&N that we rarely go to because it’s like 20+ minutes away, and I FINALLY got my hands on that sequel I’ve been dying for – The Black Lung Captain by Chris Wooding. I AM SO STINKING EXCITED. I’m hoping to plow through the two books I’m currently reading today so that I can start it ASAP.

And even though I was all distracted this week, here are some links to interesting stuff…

Slate wrote an irritating article about how Marvel will hopefully “step up” their game when it come to female characters in movies- they cited Black Widow as a “sexpot with a leather-clad ass”. This is annoying for two reasons. One – type “black widow comic” into Google images and you’ll see that the movie representation of her was actually spot-on, and she was pretty fantastic in The Avengers. Two – why are people so offended that female superhero characters are sexy in movies? It’s exactly how they are in the comics. And are they implying that women can’t kick ass and be good-looking at the same time? UGH.

Mental Floss showcases 11 geeky snow creations – someone actually made a Tardis out of snow.

BookRiot reviews Bookish.com , which is a new online bookstore that specializes in recommendations based on your preferences and what books you search for. I created an account for Bookish and have played around with it a bit, not sure how often I’ll use it yet.

I want to try making homemade butterbeer, after reading so much about Hogsmeade in HP #3.

OK, I’m off to read as much as possible for the rest of my work shift. Hope ya’ll are having a lovely weekend!

~Sarah

Sarah Sunday!

Moss and Roy Freak Out!

Woo-hoo! It’s Sunday. (AKA my version of Friday)

Sarah update: I feel like not a lot happened this week, even though I was pretty busy. I cleaned, my sister and L came into town earlier in the week so I could baby-sit him (sooooo exhausting, watching that kid), and I tried to sneak in blogging, reading, and relaxing whenever I could. Oh and my work schedule was a little weird because someone asked me to switch shifts with them, so that threw me off a bit.

Amanda and L came into town again on Saturday, but this time she brought her new boyfriend and so far, I approve. My poor little sister has dated some serious jackasses (that’s not mean, she knows it), but this guy seems really nice so far and she seems really happy, which of course makes me happy.

Maurice Moss

Moss is my favorite character on The IT Crowd so far. Obviously.

On Monday when I couldn’t sleep, I started watching a British show on Netflix called The I.T. Crowd and it was hilarious, and then the honeyman got home and caught part of it and he liked it too, so we’ve been watching that this week. I’m a little bummed that each season is only 6 episodes though, what the hell? And there’s only 4 seasons, so it probably won’t take up long to watch them all.

I’ve started doing treadmill intervals at the gym, and they suck. I’m ATTEMPTING to try to improve my running, because I know my sister Heather wants to do some runs together. I was going to download that Couch to 5K app but it doesn’t really seem useful for running on the treadmill, and it’s way too freaking cold to run outside. Sooo I just set up the intervals on the treadmill and do those for like 20 minutes. I’m a little ashamed of how bad it kicked my butt this week. Cardio is my jam, but running is so much harder and after the second day my shins started hurting a bit. Hoping it gets a little easier this coming week.

Reading update: I finished 3 books this week – The Baby Boon, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Blackberry Winter. That sounds like a lot for one week, but it’s really not. And I did a lot of blogging this week, so I’m mildly burnt out from the internet. I did start a new monthly feature though, Mini-Review Recap, in which I recap all of the books I’ve read in the past month with tiny review blurbs. I know that I really like mini-reviews on other blogs because sometimes I’m just too lazy to read a whole review, especially if it’s a book I’ve never heard of before. I don’t think I’m alone in that, so hopefully ya’ll will find the mini-reviews interesting.

Right now I’m reading Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding, which so far is awesome and fun and unique and hopefully I’ll be finishing it today or tomorrow. And of course I’m going to be starting the 3rd Harry Potter book this week.

And now, some links to stuff I found interesting…
