Sarah Sunday

It’s the #24in48 readathon this weekend, and since it’s 8 o’clock at night now I’m guessing I’ll end it with maybe 4 hours of reading, which is just a damn shame. Between working out, running errands, being distracted by the internet, and spending time with the honeyman I just completely lost focus of the ‘thon, which sucks :-p

Reading: The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers – I’m about 170 pages in and loving it. And I especially love that the author gently corrected someone on Twitter who said she pictured Captain Ashby as Matt Damon: “Not to commandeer your brain theater, but Ashby’s got brown skin, so I might suggest Laz Alonso or Henry Simmons. πŸ™‚

Watching: Ghostbusters! Saw it twice this week. So awesome, so fun.

Listening: Nothing, really. I’ve been listening to podcasts and music all week, I don’t know why I haven’t bothered with an audiobook. But In the Heights is on Amazon Prime so I’m gonna start listening to that soon because I need all of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s work in my brain.

Eating: Gummy bears! For real though, I’m trying to eat a little better, trying to use My Fitness Pal again.

Blogging: I’m hoping to get a bit back on track with that this week. After getting back from NYC last weekend, then celebrating 9 years with the honeyman, and getting sick with some cold – blogging just wasn’t happening.

Thinking: About how I should get food ready for work tomorrow, and how excited I am to “sleep in” till 5:20 because the gym opens too late on Mondays to be able to go before work. On the other days, the honeyman and I are attempting to get up at 3:45 to go before work. (We managed twice last week, not bad considering all the stuff I just mentioned.)

Anticipating: Laying in bed and getting back to my book.

Hope your weekend has been restful! Any exciting plans for this week? (THE LAST WEEK OF JULY, OMG.)

  1. I didn’t read much this weekend either, really. Or rather, it FELT like I did, but I really didn’t. About six and a half hours total. I think Instagram was probably a big factor there, haha, plus all those little stops to clean a room or make food or stare idly out the window while singing along to something at full volume… you know how it is. Your week sounds lovely anyway, cold aside. πŸ™‚

    1. Yeah, lots of little stops was my problem. Let me stop real quick to feed the cat, or go get froyo, or do some dishes. I’m usually good about completely clearing my schedule for the Dewey’s readathon, I need to try to do the same with these weekend ones too.

  2. I absolutely loved The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, one of my favourite books this year, and I’ve been putting it into everyone’s hands who might enjoy it. Haven’t gone wrong yet.

And I saw Ghostbusters on Friday. HOLTZMANN!!!! ❀ ❀ ❀ A good, funny, feel-good sort of film – and not a sniff of romance to be found (unless you count a little bit of flirtation which I don't.) Romance is all very well, but how many films are completely without it?

    1. I have less than 100 pages in TLWtaSAP (ugh long title) and yeah, it rocks. It was exactly what I needed.

So yeah, we all agree that Holtzmann wins the Ghostbusters cake, she was awesome. And I loved the flirtin’ with the dumb receptionist πŸ™‚

  3. GHOSTBUSTERS!! I liked it so much. I have never seen OG Ghostbusters, and after seeing the new one, I feel absolutely fine about that. This existing one is so much fun and I do not need anything else from the Ghostbusters franchise. Except possibly a sequel with MOAR HOLTZMANN.

I have fair hair and round yellow sunglasses, and I am very much hoping I can sort out a Holtzmann Halloween costume with a minimum outlay of dollars. High-waisted pants should be acquirable at a Goodwill, right? And it’s not like I’m not going to find a good use for brown leather fingerless gloves at other points in my life, right?

    1. HOLTZMANN WAS THE BEST. I want so many sequels, mainly for her and Melissa McCarthy. I haven’t seen the old Ghostbusters in yeeeeeaaarrrssss and kinda want to re-watch, but I doubt I’ll ever get around to it.

Talk to me.
