Bout of Books 13.0 MASTER POST

jazz hands

It’s time for Bout of Books! I have been waiting for AGES. Since the last one ended.

Bout of Books is a week-long, no pressure, reading marathon and it is the greatest. I didn’t sign up to be an official expert or anything this time around, but I have done a lot of these so if you have questions, feel free to ask. You can still sign up here until Tuesday night. This is going to be a sticky post where I update everyday, plus I’ll be all over Twitter and Instagram, as usual – SarahSaysRead is my user name on everything.

Alright, let’s take a gander at this delicious stack of books.

CHALLENGES

Bookish Survey challenge, hosted by Writing My Own Fairy Tale

1. How do you organize your shelves? They’re kind of spread out, but I have a whole bookshelf of just favorites and comics, and then classics, non-fiction, romance, poetry, general fiction, and then other shelves that are just series or all mass markets, etc. It’ll be more organized when I have a library room again.
2. What is one of your favorite book that’s not in one of your favorite genres? Uhh… Bet Me I guess? Romance isn’t a big genre for me, but man I love that book.
3. What is the last 5 star book you read? I’m not sure… my spreadsheet isn’t in front of me right now to look at my recently read stuff. But off the top of my head, The Martian and The Lies of Locke Lamora. Neither of which were very recent, so I’m probably forgetting something glaringly obvious from this year, I’m sure.
4. What book are you most excited to read during the read-a-thon? Daredevil: Guardian Devil, hands down. I’ll probably read it tonight after work. I am so excited to start reading Daredevil.
5. What book do you recommend the most? Outlander, probably. I just love it so much.

WRAP-UP

  • 1342 pages read, most of which was comics
  • Plus about 11% of Marvel Comics: The Untold Story on audio
  • Favorite reads: RUNLOVEKILL #1 & #2, Kia and Gio, and Anyway: Angie
  • Least favorite reads: Daredevil: Guardian Devil by Kevin Smith and Joe Quesada. Disappointing intro to this character, but I’m looking forward to exploring other Daredevil titles
  • Took place in one awesome Twitter chat
  • Had a blast!

  1. Just signed up for my first time ever since you and Brandie basically convinced me from all your readathon fun! 😉 I used a template similar to yours/ the one from the Bout of Books site. Is that okay? I’ve never done this before.

    Have fun! 🙂

  2. Sounds like you organize your shelves in a similar way I do: non-fiction, favorites, fantasy/dystopian, contemporary, etc. They’re also organized alphabetically by author. It’s my first time participating in bout of books, and I’m excited! Hope to see your progress on Twitter!

  3. You’re doing awesome, Sarah! I still have a long ways to go before I can watch Age of Ulton … lol. And I love that lots of readers are getting some comics and graphic novels on their reading lists!! Good luck with the rest of the week!

    1. You could probably see it if you’ve seen the first Avengers movie. I wouldn’t worry about watching all the other side character movies first. Most of them I’ve only seen once, and I still haven’t seen Thor 2. I want to watch/re-watch ALL of them one of these days, but man there’s so many.

  4. You are seriously crushing this readathon! You are inspiring me to do much better next time! I’ve had a lot of fun, but haven’t gotten to read much. I’m looking forward to the next one!

  5. Looks like a great week! I was really happy with my Bout of Books, except I did pretty much NO visiting with other participants! Oh well, I really shouldn’t compare this BoB to my previous ones. And I did manage to make it to one chat, so I wasn’t a total hermit.

  6. YOU DID SO AWESOME, and you got your happy phone calls, and your GIF-age is, as always, on point. I reheaaaaally suck at the ‘be social’ elements of readathons these days, they’re all getting so big and cross-platformy and I can’t keep up! I just checked in on Twitter occasionally and designated myself as an Instagram stalker/cheerleader since that’s where most of the pretty pictures seemed to be happening. *sighs* NEXT ONE IN AUGUST SARAH! IT FEELS SO CLOSE ALREADY! 🙂

    1. I’m super looking forward to the one in August, and I might be better at being social then too. I just did not feel motivated to get on the computer and blog hop much this time around. I barely remembered to update my own post in the mornings. Maybe next time I’ll participate just via Instagram and Twitter, that’s where all the fun action happens anyways.
