BOUT OF BOOKS READATHON 10.0 MASTER POST

Bout of Books

Hooray, Bout of Books! What is Bout of Books, you ask? Silly question – it’s the BEST readathon, and it’s a week long and full of readathon-ing goodness. Go here to read more about it.

I'm coming

So, I’m mostly participating via Twitter and Instagram this time around, due to the fact that I’ll likely be working closer to 50 hrs this week and I won’t have much time to get online. I MIGHT hop online daily to do updates, but that might be stretching things a bit.

OH YES, THE BOOKS.

OH YES, THE BOOKS.

THE BOOKS

  • Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon (both in paper and on my Kindle)
  • random Kindle books – I have a couple novellas on there.
  • Manhattan Projects: Volume 1 by Jonathan Hickman & Nick Pitarra
  • Chew: Volume 8 by John Layman & Rob Guillory
  • Y, The Last Man: Volume 1 by Brian K. Vaughan & Pia Guerra

So mostly, continuing on with my Outlander re-reads before the new one comes out next month, and some graphic novels.

THE GOALS

  • Read every day.
  • Join in on at least one Twitter chat (will probably be the Wednesday night one).
  • Tweet/Instragram whenever possible – this will be my main way of socialization and updates.
  • Try to visit the blogs of fellow readathoners… I’d aim for one a day, but again, I don’t know how much I’m going to be online. So we’ll see how this goes.

I’m not adding my update template here like I usually do… we’ll see how things are going, and maybe I’ll add it in later. (Okay, so later is here and I’m squeezing it in…)

MY UPDATES – (I’m using a slightly modified version of the Bout of Books template)

Monday
Number of pages I’ve read today: 198
Total number of books I’ve read: 1
Books I read from: Chew Volume 8, Drums of Autumn
#todayinsixwords: Love Chew, need volume 9 ASAP.

Was able to read a bit on my lunch at work, and then after eating dinner… by then I started to get pretty tired though, so I only read till 9:30. Just happy to fit reading in whenever I can this week.

Monday

Tuesday
Number of pages I’ve read today: 63
Total number of books I’ve read: 1
Books I read from: Drums of Autumn
#todayinsixwords: Did not read nearly enough today.

Soooo I read for a few minutes on my lunch, and started reading in the evening… and definitely fell asleep on the couch. Fail.

Tuesday

Wednesday
Number of pages I’ve read today: 15
Total number of books I’ve read: 1
Books I read from: Drums of Autumn
#todayinsixwords: At least it’s not zero pages?

I don’t even know what happened here – work was busy, went out to dinner, and then had fun drinking and tweeting during the #boutofbooks Twitter chat. And then I promptly crashed.

Wednesday.

Wednesday.

Thursday
Number of pages I’ve read today: 68
Total number of books I’ve read: 1
Books I read from: Drums of Autumn
#todayinsixwords: Barely better, despite leaving work early.

So I had to leave work early to do some things, but figured I would still have some extra reading time… that vanished when my sis and Devil Baby came over after dinner for a few. Damn damn damn.

Thursday

Thursday

Friday
Number of pages I’ve read today: 0. ZERO. NADA.
Total number of books I’ve read: 1
Books I read from: NONE
#todayinsixwords: Bad. Bad, bad bad bad bad.

So, it was a ridiculously long, busy, not even really productive day at work and I got no reading in at all. FAIL.

Friday.

Friday.

  2. Yay – I’m happy to see you’re back at it! I hope you get some time to read (stop working so hard!). I’m definitely excited to participate in my first BoB!

  3. Wow, good luck finding time to squeeze us in! I do highly recommend the Twitter chat if you can make it. The one this afternoon was absolutely CRAZY. And if the evening time has even MORE people and is even MORE crazy… well, we really might break Twitter.

    1. I would LOVE to see that headline… “BOOKISH NERDS IN A FRENZY SHUT DOWN TWITTER DURING SOME SORT OF ‘THON” “PEOPLE OVERLOAD TWITTER TALKING ABOUT…BOOKS??”

I’m really looking forward to Wednesday’s chat 🙂

  4. Nice work – I’m glad you got some reading time in today! I was about done by 9:30, too. But STILL a great first day of BoB!

I have never read a graphic novel. For a newbie – what would you recommend my first one be?

  5. Well, look at you you are doing so well! Reading 200 pages already on the first day is great! good luck for the rest of the week and have fun!

Oh, and I like the new design of yours – I liked the old one too, it was super cute, but this is quite a change, it’s so fresh and clean.

  6. I technically have lotsa time to read, but yet my page count was very low yesterday – at least you have a perfect excuse :p Sometimes just things get in the way! (In my case, I’ve just been feeling a bit off, and when I feel off, I can’t read because I can’t focus.) Anyway, good job us both finishing something – so much praise is going around about Chew lately!

  7. Sarah, darling, I’m just glad you’re down to 50 hours a week. (I hope those overtime checks have been sweet, because you have been running yourself ragged!) I’m shocked you’ve been able to do as much as you have. You keep on keeping on, girl!

  8. I can’t even begin to tell you how giddy it makes me to see someone else didn’t read a single page on Friday! 50+ hours at work is a lot, I think you’ve done amazing for the schedule you have had this week 🙂
