I HAVE A PLAN

HI YOU GUYS!!!!

It’s been over a month since my last update. What the hell. But now I’m back, because I HAVE A PLAN. A plan for slowly getting back into my blogging groove. Wanna know what it is? Of course you do!

  • Don’t even try to post a lot until at least July. This may sound silly, but here’s the deal – I’ve just been re-reading the Outlander books anyways, so I don’t have any great review to write. And the newest Outlander book comes out in June, so I’m hoping that by July I’ll have re-read them all and have read the new one and I’ll be ready to read other things. For now, my brain is still really enjoying the comfort-reading of Outlander.
  • Catch up with you guys. This is the other brilliant point of not posting much until July. My Bloglovin reader is at around 500, and I’m going to work on that over the next several weeks. I want to know what you all have been up to! And I don’t want to be a narcissistic asshole who just jumps back into blogging without knowing how you all have been too. I miss ya’ll. And your nice comments here and on Twitter and Instagram have brought many smiles to my face.
  • Take my lunches. Part of the appeal of this new position at work was that I’d get to take hour-long lunches. I have not really been doing that, but from now on, no skipping lunches. Even on the days when I’m there 14 hrs and have a million things to do. I really want to use that hour to get some reading in, or to read blogs.
  • Just do it. Even my awesomely thought-out plan involves me getting online and doing things, which I haven’t always been in the mood for lately. Like at all. Cause spending all day at work on the computer kind of makes me just want to go home, eat food, watch something, read something maybe, and pass out. But if I can get up at 4 in the morning for work some days, I can certainly get up early or stay up late to get online for a bit.

That’s my plan! I know, you’re in awe. Now on to some randomness…

So, work has been interesting. I really like the stuff I’m doing and learning, and I think that I’ll be learning more stuff in the near future, so that’s good. Some days are crazy stressful, but not many.

My eating has been atrocious, and I have NOT been working out as much as I’d like, and I haven’t gone to Krav Maga (oh yeah, we started doing that two nights a week) in like a week and a half. But you know. Some days I’m just too tired. I gotta get my ass in gear though, cause we’re doing the Color Run at the end of the month.

We started watching Bob’s Burgers. It’s really weird, but some parts make me laugh a lot. Archer is better though.

All this overtime has kind of led to me shopping a bit more than I did before… but that’s not terrible. I really needed to re-stock clothes, especially dressy work clothes. I bought THREE dresses yesterday, and I’m super excited to wear them. I’m going to try to rein that in though and actually start saving. That would be nice.

I’ve been catching up on listening to the Book Riot podcasts, and a phrase that Rebecca used, something to the effect of “getting more words in my brain”, has kind of stuck with me. That’s what I need to be doing in all the little ways I can – on lunch breaks, waiting in line at places, driving, etc. I need to find some more good audiobooks, and read on my phone more maybe.

I hate that so many public restrooms have automatic faucets, and now sometimes I just stick my hand under a faucet and wait for water to come out, but then it turns out it’s a normal one that you turn on yourself. That happened to me yesterday.

OH and I almost forgot – Bout of Books 10 starts on May 12th! And obviously I’m going to attempt that, because it’s my favorite readathon and I love it. My updates might be mostly on Instragram and Twitter, but still. Here’s the blurb:

“The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team”

You should definitely sign-up. It’s the most fun ever.

Alright, I should probably stop rambling and get some stuff done. Blogs to read, an apartment to clean, a shower to be had, etc. I just wanted to say hi, and let you know what my general plan is, and that my posting is hopefully going to be sporadic in the next couple months, but hopefully not completely lacking.

So how have you guys been? Whatcha been up to?

~Sarah

  1. Yay, Sarah’s back! (…ish. Still, I’ll take the -ish.) You have way more persistence than I do. I think if I had 500+ unread blog posts I’d just mark all as read. I’ve been up over 100 before and worked my way back, but even that was overwhelming. But your plan sounds great! (And yay for Bout of Books!)

    1. Yeah, ish. And I am SO TEMPTED to just mark those all as read, but under been kinda MIA for months and I want to see what people have been up to! I might clean out my reader though, unfollow some, you know. To make it easier to keep up with later.

  2. Yay, you’re back! Sounds like a good plan to ease back in. I’m glad you’re doing Bout of Books! I’m going to try it for first time and I’m excited.

  3. So glad to see you back! It sounds like your plan is a good one (though, I’m with Charleen, I’d have a hard time going through 500+ blog posts) and I hope that we’ll be seeing more of your lovely face, especially during Bout of Books!

  4. Sarah! Hi! *waves* I am also doing the colo(u)r run at the start of next month (literally the 1st) and I’m scaaaared! Cause running is hard and all. But also, excited!

I like that you have a plan, and I say, just do what you need to do. We’re all still out here just hanging, you know. No worries! Lol

  5. *happy dance* HELLO! Glad to see a post from you. And glad you will be joining Bout of Books (I’m still a bit tired from Dewey’s :p)

I despise automatic faucets, doesn’t matter if they are more hygenic, whatever. I always seem to be the one that can’t make them work :p

  6. Taking lunches IS GREAT. I haven’t always been faithful about it myself, but it’s such a good way to break up the day and get some reading done.

Also, there is no shame in shopping. Retail therapy makes you feel better AND dresses are amazing items of clothing to have. I love them. I can’t have enough dresses in my wardrobe.

  7. Welcome back. Ish. I think the plan to make sure you take your lunch, even when work is crazy, is a good idea. And a way to keep your sanity.

YAY to watching Bob’s Burgers, which I recently realized I love. Though I have to say I’m liking BB better than the latest season of Archer. I would like them to go back to secret agenting.

Good luck catching up with your blog roll and look forward to you being back-back in July!

  8. Sarah! Welcome back! 🙂

I like your plan; it’s well thought-out and wise.

I haven’t blogged much lately – I’ve read so much but not with my reviewing-hat on. I’d like to get a few mini-reviews written soon. I’m hoping Bout of Books will encourage me to start posting more again. (One week to go! Yay!)

Make sure you do take your lunch breaks. It’s especially important when everything’s busy (though harder to get back into working afterwards, especially if you’ve got stuck into a good book.)

  9. Sarah!!!!!!! I have missed your face SO SO SO MUCH. I’m looking forward to your slow and steady return. I may have to tweet at you constantly when MOBY comes out and we’re both reading it, because you get me. Fair warning.

  10. Welcome back! I think the plan is great and it sounds like you’ve found your motivation. I’m also re-reading the Outlander books and I find I don’t want to review them because I can’t do them justice. Puts a damper on some of my reviewing…

  11. Look at your pretty Kindle! 🙂 Welcome to the dark side 😀
Also: welcome back. I haven’t been blogging regularly for a while either, so let’s get back into this together! 🙂
The new job sounds brutal with 14 hour days, but I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
