It’s my birthday and I’ll read if I want to

Birthday Girls πŸ™‚ I bet Gabby’s getting pretty sick of taking pics with me.

Good morning ya’ll!

I’m 27 now! And as usual, I don’t feel 27… I feel maybe 22? 23? And Gabby is 2! I can’t believe we’ve had her for almost 2 whole years now (we got her in May, she was born at the end of Feb). She is the best and I love her. You know what I didn’t see coming for me at 27? Being a person who owns three different shirts with cats on them. This is what Gabby has done to me. AndΒ I don’t even own any bookish shirts! Which is a travesty and clearly needs to be remedied sometime soon.

I have the next four days off, since it’s my birthday and all. I managed to put 34 hours into the three days I worked this week, which wore me out but was also a good thing. I finished these major reports I had to get done by the end of the month, and next week should be normal 10-hour days, and we might have a temp soon! So things are looking up.

Working my ass off meant that ALL I wanted to do for my birthday was stay home and read. Which is exactly what I’m doing. I’ve already finished The Martian (I had like 120 pages left in it), and that was awesome. And now I’m taking a break to write this (obvs), and then I’ll probably sit down and devour all of the new graphic novels I have, because I’m super excited about those. And later I MIGHT actually leave the house to acquire some sort of food… haven’t decided what yet. I love this day so hard.

And of course, if you’re around today, I’ll be on Twitter and Instagram allllll day with the #bdayreadathon hashtag. You’ll get sick of me, I swear.

#bdayreadathon books.

So, today is all about reading. Tomorrow is all about BLOGGING. I have about 200 posts in Bloglovin to sort through, read, and comment on. I have two book reviews to write, and some graphic novel mini-review posts to write, and I should probably try to get ahead and schedule some Top Ten Tuesday posts or something.

I really want to say thanks to all of you for still sticking with me while this whole switching-jobs thing is going on. I feel like a dick when I only hop online to writeΒ a quick Sarah Sunday post and comment on a few blogs, but you know. Time is short at the moment. I really hope it’ll calm down in the next 5-6 weeks and I’ll be able to get back into a routine with blogging, tweeting, and basically just being actively social with ya’ll.

Leave a comment telling me all about how you like to celebrate YOUR birthday. OR, (because Laura made me think about this), tell me what famous people you share your birthday with! I apparently share a birthday with John Steinbeck & Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The honeyman WINS though, because he shares a birthday with J.K. Rowling. You don’t get cooler than that. But yeah, talk about either of those 2 things and thisΒ Sunday I’ll randomly pick a winner for a $20 Amazon giftcard. Open internationally, of course, as long as your country has a version of Amazon… do they all now? I don’t even know. If not, then we’ll arrange something via The Book Depository.

I adore you all. Thanks for reading and blogging with me today. You rock.

  1. Happy birthday to you! Hope it’s great!

I like to take the day off for my birthday too and go out to eat and have cookie cake or Wegmans Ultimate Chocolate cake lol. I also like to relax and read or go to a movie.

I share a birthday with Jim Carrey, Betty White, Benjamin Franklin, Zone Deschanel, and more!

  2. According to Wikipedia, I share a birthday with Robert Schumann, Frank Lloyd Wright, Jerry Stiller, Nancy Sinatra, and *sigh* Kanye West. Among others, obviously. But that last one seems to be the name I see most often associated with my birthday. Also, I’m not really sure on Robert Schumann, I’ve also seen his birthday as the day after mine… I guess record-keeping in the 19th century left something to be desired.

  3. Awww, happy birthday! I love that photo of you and Gabby, with the tiara and everything. It’s amazing how cats can change our lives.

I love the way you’re celebrating your birthday, and though I don’t do it all the time, I know how exhausting it is to work the hours you’ve been working. SO make sure that tday of all days, you do whatever the hell you want to.

Me? I like to celebrate my birthday by sleeping late, snacking on the things I like all day. Reading, watching a favorite movie, snuggling with my kitties, drinking an adult beverage of choice. A nice quiet dinner at the end of the day with my own honeyman. You know–the simple but satisfying things.

  4. Happy Birthday! So many February blogger birthdays this month (really, this past week). Mine was Monday and I don’t feel 30 – I still feel like I could go back to college and fit in…maybe? Anyway, hope you have a great day of reading!!

  5. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you enjoy some relaxing days off and lots and lots of reading.

JK Rowling, your man does win the look-who-else-has-my-birthday game. But Steinbeck and Longfellow are pretty cool too. I can’t think of any authors I share a bday with (whomp) BUT I do share a birthday with Van Gogh, Eric Clapton, and MC Hammer. So that’s fun. (Also Piers Morgan but ugh. He’s getting jerk all over my day, so I try to ignore him.)

  6. Happy birthday! I can’t think of anything better than having a birthday readathon, so enjoy πŸ˜€

I share my birthday with Princess Di and it is the anniversary of the first day of the Somme…um, great?!

    Anyway, have a great day!

  7. Oooo what an awesome giveaway. Out of the bat I know I share birthday with Ryan Gosling and Anne Hathaway (she’s also born in the same year as me). There’s also Grace Kelly and Neil Young, Michael Ende (should maybe read his book) and also, dun dun dun!, Charles Manson :p

Have a lovely rest of the day!

  8. Happy birthday to you and Gabby and congrats on getting some calm days for yourself finally! πŸ™‚
As it happens, I’ve never read the 26th of January article in Wikipedia before, so it’s thanks to you that I’ve discovered that Paul the Octopus (the football expert!) shares my birthday! How cool! πŸ™‚

  9. Happy Happy Birthday to you!! Reading all day sounds like a great way to spend the day! Lucky you!! I’m jealous!!

I’d love to spend my birthday doing that or going to Walt Disney World…it’s a toss up, as both would be fun. I think Mickey might win out though actually.

I share my birthday with Rick Springfield, Gene Kelly, River Phoenix, Kobe Bryant (blech!) and Cassadee Pope.

  10. Well, Happy Birthday again! I just got to my feedly and saw your post, so why not.:) That can’t be too many birthday well-wishes, right? πŸ˜‰ My birthday was exactly a fortnight ago and I spent it working, but I did indulge myself with a special dessert and extra chocolate. The only one I know of sharing my birthday with is Robbie Williams.

  11. Happy Birthday! Hope you have a wonderful relaxing reading day. Gabby looks adorable in that photo. According to wikipedia I share my birthday with many many football players and Geena Davis. Which is something I did not know

  12. Happy Birthday! And happy reading! I’m spying Hellsing in your pile – yay (I loved the anime πŸ™‚
And I googled it, but apparently I share my birthday with zero famous people. At least no one I’ve heard about… LOL. And how I like to spend my birthday? Well, there must be cake (Mozart) and alcohol (alcohol I like!! because I’m picky about food/beverages) and some presents (or more sweet things I can eat ~.~) +family&friends+music. And of course no school/work.

Happy birthday again. Have a great one!! πŸ™‚

  13. It’s not just your birthday, it’s your GOLDEN birthday! 27 on the 27th? That deserves extra sprinkles on your cupcake or something. I share a birthday with William Shatner, Reese Witherspoon, Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Weber, and James Patterson. Also, the song that was #1 on the day I was born is Billie Jean. March 22 is pretty cool.

  14. Happy birthday! I’m a huge fan of celebrating birthdays. I know that some people aren’t, but obviously they just aren’t fun people (just kidding of course.) Every year I make a big list of things I’ve been wanting to do. I find restaurants I’ve always wanted to try, museum I want to check out, etc.

Then I do a whole bunch of them! Some with the Huz, others with friends or by myself, so my whole birthday week becomes a celebration of trying new things and new food and doing something on my bucket list. Past years have included attending a roller derby game, riding a mechanical bull, going to a jazz club and doing karoke (in Budapest) and of course, wonderful food and drink. So many fantastic memories, I hope your day is filled with them as well!

  15. Happy (belated) birthday! I tend to go on a family vacation around my birthday which results in lots of good reading time so I fully support your #bdayreadathon. I hope it went great!
