Sarah Sunday!

Yeah, late Sarah Sunday update… that might start being the norm, since Saturdays I’m usually kinda busy and not online much.

  • It’s been Bout of Books this week, and I’ve been LOVING it. Today’s the last day, which is kinda sad, but so far this week I’ve read Buck by M.K. Asante, Boxers and Saints by Gene Luen Yang, A Matter of Life by Jeffrey Brown, Virgins (a short story) by Diana Gabaldon, and Chew: Volume 1 by John Layman and Rob Guillory. I’m probably going to finish Smarter Than You Think by Clive Thompson tonight, and I’m about 100 pages into Packing for Mars by Mary Roach. So basically, this week has been super awesome reading-wise.
  • What’s not exactly awesome is that I haven’t written a sing review for any of those yet… so that will be what I’m working on later this week.
  • I finally went ahead and downloaded the Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog soundtrack from Amazon, making my car rides much more musical. Just picture me singing loudy, badly, and happily along as I drive.
  • Since the holidays are finally over, I’ve been getting better about having a sort of routine to my new work schedule. Saturday morning/afternoons are for errands now – grocery shopping, the pet store, the library, etc. Yesterday included a trip to the mall so that I could use up my B&N gift cards I got for Christmas. I spent about an hour walking around, looking at books. It was the best.
  • I’ve decided I want a Kindle Paperwhite. I know, I know. I’m probably going to do a whole blog post about it later this week.
  • The honeyman finds some weird, hilarious stuff on Youtube. Right now, I’m finding Lil Dicky’s videos Ex-Boyfriend and White Dude particularly amusing. Especially White Dude, because he basically talks about how lucky he is that he’s not a minority or a woman, and it SOUNDS like that would be a jerk move, but you never see white guys acknowledging stuff like that, so I approve.
  • I actually managed to go to the gym twice last week! Last Sunday, Thursday, and then today, so it feels like three times. My running has gotten TERRIBLE since I slacked off so much, but it’s nice to get back into the habit of it. And I really, really can’t wait to get running shoes this spring so I can run outside more.
  • Katie’s online book club is reading The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion (posts about it go up Feb 11) and I highly recommend you join in and read it. I’m totally excited to re-read it.

Aaaand now I’m going to go back to reading, because it’s already 7 and I actually have to go into work early tomorrow (booooo). Hope ya’ll are having a great weekend! What have you been up to?

  1. Oh my goodness, I can’t believe you decided you might get an ereader! My jaw almost dropped lol! I’m looking forward to your post about it! I hope you still come to the library – we would miss you! Are you going to the book sale next week?

  2. Saturdays are my errands days as well — I try to get everything done quickly on Saturdays so that I have all day Sunday to lie around and be lazy. Yesterday I went to a trillion garage sales and took the dog on the longest walk ever, and today I lay around and read most of The Luminaries. Ah weekends.

  3. I’m glad you have been enjoying Bout of Books!
    I’ve had Kindle Paperwhite for a few months now and even though I love it, I still read probably at least 85% of my books in physical form. But I think Kindle is good to have for certain purposes and times.
    Love the photos, as usual – the first one is really pretty!

      I think that’s exactly how I’ll be with an e-reader. I love paper books, there’s no way that’s going to change. But it’d be nice to be able to use an e-reader when I’m in bed or something.

  4. Well done with getting to the gym twice! I’ve been really struggling to get back into a workout routine after the holidays but then I was only back at work on Thursday! I’ll really need to get back into it properly this week!

    1. It’s hard to get back into a routine. Case in point – I should be at the gym right now, but instead I decided to sleep in a bit and then get some stuff done online. Ha! As long as I go either tomorrow or Thursday, I guess I won’t feel too bad about it.

  5. You did awesome for Bout of Books — wow! 🙂 And good job getting to the gym. I really need to get back at it, but winter here just drags me down. It would be great to get outside, but I’d like to keep all my limbs intact. Can it be summer yet?

    I want a Kindle, too … I have the basic one, but I want one with lighting on it so I can use it while feeding the little guy in the dark at night. My Kobo is nice and all, but I like how I can switch pages from either hand with the Kindle. AND it’s so much easier to load books onto it. I hope you get one soon!

    1. When it gets warm, and when I get new running shoes, I want to try getting outside more too. But it’s freaking freezing out… well actually, I’m sure it’s probably much colder in your area, lol. So you know!

      The lighting is one of the reasons I decided I want one. Lately I’ve been wanting to read in bed more, but I don’t want to have to deal with a booklight because I tend to fall asleep while I read. I can’t use the Kindle app on my phone because I keep that plugged in across the room. I was thinking about a Kobo, but the Kindle seems like the best option out right now…
