Sarah Sunday!

Beautiful weather, adorable Gabby x 2, cute nephew L, and being spoiled by the honeyman.

Hey there peeps! Happy Sunday!

So, I didn’t do a Sarah Sunday post last week because dude, the readathon was ending and that was enough posting for one weekend. Plus, nothing really exciting was going on anyways. In the past two weeks:

  • I hosted that Premier jewelry party, which was fun and OMG my sister showed me how to make this pizza bread thing and it was sooooo goooood.
  • Two readathons happened!
  • My sister Amanda and nephew L moved back to town! Which is part of why I watched him for like 36 hours straight earlier this week. That was exhausting.
  • Had some library drama, but luckily that got straightened out. Isn’t it the most infuriating thing when someone doesn’t believe you, but you know you’re telling the truth?
  • I got a new purse! It’s GIANT and blue and I got it on clearance at Target. Love it. Also got a new, smaller notebook to use as a blogging journal.
  • Went to my niece and nephew’s birthday party – Emma is 5, and Josh is 8. I got them books (of course). Also, there was delicious pizza and cupcakes. Don’t worry, I’m still working out and such, and still maintaining my current weight.

See, not much when you really think about it. I feel like I’m always busy, but that’s mainly because of stupid work.Β The weather has been LOVELY. 70+ degrees and sunny for the last 4 or 5 days, and at least another 4 days of it in the forecast. So happy that spring is finally here.Β

Tonight is date night and we’re actually going out instead of hanging out at home! We’re going to go see Iron Man 3, and hopefully have dinner at P.F. Chang’s. It’s going to be awesome.

Bookish update: Ummmm I read some stuff. Here’s what I read in April. I just finished The River of No Return by Bee RidgwayΒ this morning, and I’m still deciding how I feel about it. I’m currently reading Space Chronicles by Neil DeGrasse Tyson which is really good, but it’s more of a collection of a bunch of his previous essays, interviews, etc rather than just a regular non-fiction book. I’m enjoying it, and the fact that each chapter doesn’t necessarily relate directly to the next means I can read it in bits and then set it aside to do something else without totally confusing myself.

I’m HOPING to finish Space Chronicles within the next couple days, and then I’ll be moving on to something else… not sure what, but I have a ton of books on my May TBR so it shouldn’t be a problem picking something.

Okay, so I’m off to make a grocery list and try to read for a bit before I leave work. How was your week?

  1. I need a new purse! I’m keeping my eyes open for one. I’m kinda picky. It has to be a fun color, it has to be big enough to hold a book or two. I’d like it to be a cross body cuz I like keeping my hands free…etc. etc.

Enjoy date night! My son saw IM3 last night and was raving about the aweseomeness of it πŸ™‚

    1. I can be a bit picky about my purses too! Fun colors are a must. The one downside to this purse is that it only has one little pocket on the inside – I usually prefer to have one or two outside pockets as well. But it’s like tote-bag sized and I love having a giant purse. In addition to at least two or three books, when I’m shopping I can toss my purchases in there as well so my hands are free for coffee or something. Good luck finding one that you like!

I’m oddly excited to see the new Iron Man. I was resistant to watching them but my boyfriend talked me into it, and I really like them. Tony Stark is such a jerk, so of course he’s fun to watch, lol.

  2. Mmm … pizza and cupcakes! πŸ™‚ And yay for a new purse! I have a few big ones, but always try to keep them as light as possible. They can wreak havoc on my shoulders and back!

Sounds like you had a fun week with all the readathons!

Oh, and I have NEVER seen Iron Man. Hubs LOVES the movies, but I’ve had no interest. Maybe one day I’ll watch to see what the fuss is …

    Have a good week, Sarah!

    1. Yeah, you have to try to keep big purses from accruing so much junk that they get too heavy, lol. It’s an art.

The Iron Man movies are fun, especially if you like other superhero movies. If those aren’t your thing though then yeah, you might not get much out of them.

  3. Glad you got your library drama sorted, that was no fun!

Saw Iron Man 3 as well! Was good. Then Dan’s brother treated us to Frankie & Benny’s which was TASTY. And I toyed with that reading mojo thing by reading books and blogs. Woohoo!

  4. We got some free movie tickets from bf’s parents (which is good because going to the movies in Helsinki if EXPENSIVE!), so possibly will see Iron Man 3 too… probably… The problem is I haven’t seen number 2 but that could maybe be fixed via help of Netflix or some such.

Gabby looks like she got proper soft fur! I just want to poke my hand through the screen and touch it πŸ˜€

My week was.. odd – been reading some slow books, trying to come off medications (hello vertigo my new daily buddy! :D) and it was also the boyfriend’s birthday; spring has finally arrived to the northern parts of the world, which is awesome… Not too bad, overall.

    1. I think I saw Iron Man 2 on Netflix, hopefully it’s still on there! And Gabby is SUCH a furry girl. My boyfriend likes to say that she’s more fur than cat.

Well happy birthday for your boyfriend! And yay springtime! But that stinks about the vertigo and slow books :-/ I hope this week gets better!

  5. Yay for your sister moving back to town!! πŸ˜€ And for purse-shopping πŸ™‚ I love all the new spring/summer colors they have!
I hope you have a lovely date night tonight and a great week!

  6. What are you going to put in a blogging journal? Like ideas for blogging?

My husband and I saw Iron Man 3 this morning! (Why this morning, you might ask? Well, because it was like $3.50 cheaper a ticket to see the movie before noon and it happened to be cloudy today!).

And I kind of would love one of your cupcakes! πŸ™‚

    Enjoy your date!

    1. I use my blogging journal to take notes while I read books to use later in the review, jot down ideas for the next Top Ten Tuesday or Classics Club meme, write reminders to myself or ideas I have for a post, etc. I started it a few months ago and it’s been really handy! But I needed a lighter notebook that I could carry in my purse, because the one I was using was kind of big and heavy.

I MISS going to movies in the morning! One of my local theaters charges only $5 for a movie if it’s the first showing of the day. Sadly we never get to do that anymore, because our work schedules don’t allow it.

      1. I just bought a journal for blogging yesterday. It looks so awesome I’m even gonna do a blog post about it πŸ˜€

And going to the movies in the mornings is (was) awesome. Unfortunately for those who work more or less “conventional” hours it’s near impossible, so I have only managed to do it while on vacation.

      2. I was going to post a picture comparing my old blogging journal to my new one, but I never got around to it πŸ™‚

We have some vacation days coming up in July, I should try to get to an early movie! Because yeah, otherwise it never happens.
