Monday sucks… so here’s a giveaway!

Good morning people!

Usually I love Mondays, because they are my version of Saturdays. But this Monday sucks, because I have to go into work tonight (2 pm to 2 am), so I can finally jump on the “I hate Mondays” bandwagon!

I’ve been meaning to giveaway some books for over a month now, and since I’m sick of looking at them, I thought maybe I could make somebody’s Monday a little bit better by finally giving a couple away.

casual vacancy, between shades of gray

I’m giving away two books today:

  • The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
  • Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

I’m going to go ahead and say that both are atΒ the very leastΒ in “like new” condition. I read Between Shades of Gray in one whole day, and it’s just been sitting around since. The Casual Vacancy I started to read, but stopped a little over 100 pages in. I just couldn’t get into it, even though I’ve heard brilliant things about it. I did a quick flip through and I don’t think I wrote anything in them – I usually try to stick to post-it notes anyways. The dust jackets are in good shape, I always take them off before I read. Spines are still perfect / not broken.

So if these have been on your to-read or to-buy lists, or you just want a spare copy to loan out to a friend or something, you could win one!

Leave a comment telling me how your Monday is going and which book you’d like to win. (And yes, it’s open to international readers as well.)

I’m going to use to select the winner around 11:30 PM tonight (that’s Eastern Standard Time).

Easy-peasy. Just like things should be on a Monday.

  1. My Monday is pretty good! Since it is a holiday, my daughter and I slept in! I would take either book πŸ™‚ hope the rest of your week is better!!

  2. Very nice spontaneous giveaway πŸ™‚

My Monday has been super nice – got all my translations done (work), cuddled the cats, watched snowfall outside, now struggling with “1Q84”.

Nice giveaway and I’ve been wanting to read both books. If I had to choose I’d pick “Casual Vacancy” though.

      1. I am not sure where exactly you reside and how much (if at all) snow you guys get there, but by the second half of February people here in Scandinavia tend to consider snowfall the last thing they want to see πŸ˜‰ But it is pretty, of course, and it’s not cold or anything, so quite bearable.

Still, spring couldn’t come fast enough πŸ™‚

      2. Well, we USED to get a whole lotta snow and ice in my area. The past few years, we get a few big bursts of snow (around a foot or so) that usually melts in between and it’s pretty cold, and by March or April it all melts for good. Still, it’s pretty to look at if you’re inside and don’t have to go anywhere!

        I can’t wait for spring.

  3. My Monday is going well. . . kind of . . . We decided to sell my husband’s car, and are taking it in to Carmax on Saturday but of course the check engine light went on and we will owe $400 to have it fixed before we sell it! Dumping money into the car we are going to sell sucks!

But I do have a lot of time to read today on the bright side! I’m finishing up the Series of Unfortunate Events series!

I’m open to either book! πŸ™‚

      1. The Series of Unfortunate Events series is really humorous! I am loving it as an adult because I can appreciate all the subtle witty nuances. There are 13 books in the series, so it’s a loooooong series. But the first 8 or so are decently quick reads, and after that they get a little longer. Like books 10-13 are all over 300 pages long! I highly recommend the series! I purchased all of them so I can pass them along to my future children who will obviously be super readers as well.

      2. They seem really funny! In a dark, goofy way. I can’t wait to give them a try – my nephew is 7, so I’m thinking maybe I can start reading them when he does, though that probably won’t be for a while.

  4. Between Shades was fab and I’d love to own my very own copy to share with my kiddos. Yay for giveaways! My Monday is going well so far. Nothing too exciting on the agenda today πŸ™‚

  5. What? A giveaway? I would love to win Between Shades of Gray (I already read Casual Vacancy.) I also like winning things. On Mondays. Because Mondays are stupid. Or something. Why can’t I just be independently wealthy and not need to work?!

  6. I’m sorry your Monday is so lame. Today’s is actually ok for me but that’s because the office is closed so WIN. Anyway I’d love a copy of The Casual Vacency. Give some non-HP Rowling a try. Thanks for hosting this!

  7. i would love to read A Casual Vacancy. My Monday is not going as well as I would hope. My baby boy is crying because i won’t give him his pacifier. He’s 2 1/2, so it’s time to let it go. 😦 feel bad though.

  8. Oooh, oooh, can I have The Casual Vacancy pleaaaase? (I know I’ve read it, but I don’t OWN it! πŸ˜‰ ). Bless you for being able to join in the ‘I hate Mondays’ness. I remember when I got my job after looooads of unemployment, it was at least fun to go ‘UGH, Mondays!’ with like, all of the WORLD.

    But still, Mondays suuuuuck.

  9. I had a somewhat rough day. Anxiety took me over and I had an anxiety attack. I’m all better now though. Just need to get some rest.

I would love to read “Between the Shades of Gray”

  10. My Monday was interesting! I was doing a mini-pupillage and shadowing a barrister in Leeds Crown Court. Our trial kept getting pushed further and further down the list, so we were literally sat at a table doing nothing for six hours, but I had a good time anyway. Maybe it will eventually happen anyway πŸ™‚

I’d prefer Between Shades of Grey if I won. I have NO desire for A Casual Vacancy!

  11. My Monday is not particularly exciting as I’m working today when everyone else seems to be off for Presidents Day. However, this has made traffic fantastically light. I’m still curious about the Casual Vacancy and would love to win that one. πŸ™‚ Hope your Tuesday is a little more perky than your Monday!
