Sarah Sunday!

Good morning ya’ll!

Sarah update: FINALLY finished with my absolutely crazy work schedule, hopefully for the rest of the year. In fact, I’m actually taking some days off in November and December to do holiday stuff, so even though I’ll be losing a little money there – YAY. I’m really looking forward to the holidays this year, because it’s the first year in like 3 years that I don’t have to work on Christmas Day.

Sooooo, what happened this week. Well, saw a lot of my momma cause she’s back in town and I had to drive her around a lot because her van is broken down. She was in Florida and travelling around down south for about 3 weeks, so it was really nice to see her and catch up. I love my mom πŸ™‚ And Halloween happened, and you can see the temporary pink hair above! It was such a pain in the ass to do,Β and it did wash out already, which makes me a little sad. I was more disappointed than I thought I’d be that it washed out so quick – I didn’t realize how much I missed having pink hair. I’m too lazy to put demi-permanent pink streaks in my hair, but you know, the option is there. We’ll see, maybe for my birthday or something next year. OH and see above my little sister and L’s Halloween costumes! Princess Leia and Yoda. AWESOME. And my nephew Josh was the red Power Ranger (cannot believe those are still around, lol) and my niece Emma was a doctor!

I originally took this Saturday off so that I could go to that big warehouse booksale, but that didn’t happen. Instead the honeyman and I had a really nice day together – went to breakfast, went shopping, bought a new microwave (finally!), came home and played with Gabby, etc. I missed him so much while I was working a lot, so it was just wonderful to be able to hang out together. Sorry for the sap, but it’s true.

What else… oh, as of this morning I’ve lost 20.6 lbs! Woo-hoooo! It’s made a big difference, at least in how my clothes fit – a lot of my cold weather clothes from last year are a bit baggy now, and jeans that I used to never wear because they were way too tight are now a little loose on me. So yeah, that’s awesome. I’m thinking I’ll stop at 165 lbs, which would mean I have about another 5 lbs to lose. We’ll see in a couple weeks.

And speaking of weight loss, here’s a before and after pic of my older sister Heather, who has been using MFP (My Fitness Pal) and working out for one whole year now, and she’s lost a little over 60 lbs total! Doesn’t she look awesome??? YAYYYYY HEATHER!

This week I’m just hoping to get at least a little relaxing time in, amid errands and cleaning and such. And I’ve borrowed the first three Star Wars movies from a friend, so I’m hoping to start watching those this week. I’ve never really seen them in their entirety, and the nerd in me really wants to.

Bookish update: I finished the The Grapes of Wrath this week (obviously), and I’m still aiming to do a non-spoilery review of it sometime very soon. I finished the 4th Nightside book, in which something major was revealed and I am seriously restraining myself from starting the next one right now. I’m currently reading The Fellowship of the Ring (LOTR #1) and enjoying itΒ – I’m a little less than halfway through it. So you know, hopefully I’ll finish that within the next couple days and be able to review it.

Also, I realized last night that #DailyBookPic is happening again! So I’m going to try to catch up on it today, but if you guys want to join in, just jump in whenever. Just take a pic per the prompt for the day, and then Instagram/Tweet/blog it and add the #DailyBookPic hashtag so people can see it! So much fun πŸ™‚ Here’s the list (I’d link to the origin of it, but I saved it to my phone to add here and I can’t get to the website from work).

The other bookish thing that I supposed happened is that the honeyman and I have started our bans on each other so we can start Christmas shopping for each other, which means I can’t buy any books until after Christmas. SO SAD.

Okay, that’s all the updating I have in me for right now! Hope you guys have a fantastic week!

  1. Yay for having a more relaxed work schedule! And I can totally relate to just spending the day with your man instead of leaving the house, even if it’s to buy books πŸ˜‰
Love the pictures! I didn’t think there would still be Power Ranger costumes (or kids who wanted to wear them) either! I’d have killed to have a pink one when I was younger… It’d still be awesome.
Go you on hanging in there with the weight loss! And your sister looks great!
I really loved all three of the Lord of the Rings books (even though some will disagree with me and say it’s just one in three volumes, WHATEVER), hope you’ll enjoy them as well πŸ™‚
    Have a great week!

  2. Wow, your sister looks awesome! I’m so sad that the pink in your hair has gone now though- bring it baaaaack!

Yay for days off work and stuff, but boo for book buying bans! I *might* have to do one of those too though, cause it’s nearly Christmas and I already don’t have space for all the ones I have… We’ll see. But if you can be brave then I can too! Hehehe

    1. Yeah, Heather looks SO different and pretty great! And I know, I kind of miss the pink already too… but it’s such a PAIN to keep up, lol. I might do demi-permanent streaks or tips in February… I’m giving it some thought. Part of me just feels too old for pink hair, lol.

Books bans SUCK. And I never do them willingly. But the honeyman likes to pick out books for me, so there we have it. Plus we’re not allowed to buy anything else for ourselves till Christmas, like DVDs and stuff. Only clothes and things for the house. At least it puts more money towards gift-buying!

I’m not sure if I could go on a book buying ban, BUT the hubs doesn’t buy me books anyway (unless I’m picking them out myself), so it’s all good. We don’t usually do the Christmas gift thing since he doesn’t have the time to go out and shop and we usually buy what we need throughout the year anyway. Good luck!

Hope you have a good week, Sarah!

    1. Thank you, thank you πŸ™‚

You know, it’s suprising – we do pretty much buy whatever we want all year, but somehow by Christmas there’s still stuff we want to put on a Christmas list, lol. We shop a lot… Although maybe in a year or two we’ll start to tone Christmas down a bit and only get each other a couple gifts.

Plus, since we live alone part of me really likes still having bunches of presents under the tree! I’m still a bit of a kid, I guess.
