Good afternoon peoples of the blogosphere! This is just going to be a quick update, because I’ve been posted just about every day this week. Sick of me yet? :-)

With the exception of having to work an extra shift on Tuesday, not much happened this week. I think that lack of sleep due to that extra shift ran me down a bit, because I felt like I was getting a cold on Wednesday and Thursday, but I seemed to have successfully fought it off. For now, anyways. So on all my days off I pretty much laid around the house and read and took naps, and eventually forced myself to do some cleaning and laundry, and that was about it. Exciting, I know. OH but we watched the newest episode of Defiance on Monday and that was exciting because two characters that I’ve totally been hoping would hook up finally did and I couldn’t stop smiling! And we watched The Office finale this week and I cried a lot and now I feel like re-watching ALL of The Office. That probably won’t happen anytime soon because I’m watching too many other things, but hopefully I’ll get around to it eventually.

Also this week, I ran 2 miles on the treadmill without stopping! (For me, 2 miles = 24 mins right now). So that’s pretty awesome. *high fives myself*

This coming week is busy because I on all of my 3 days off, I’m watching my niece Emma in the mornings and then taking her to school. She’s a cool kid so that’s alright, it just makes my week a bit more cramped. I might even see if she wants to spend the night at my place one night – she’s never slept over anywhere before so it would be fun.

Bookish update: This week thanks mostly to the Bout of Books readathon, I read my ass off and I finished 6 books – The Book of Lost Things, Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me, The Professor and the Madman, George’s Secret Key to the Universe, Lord of the Flies, and Prey (by Michael Crichton). I have some serious issues with Lord of the Flies - when I finished the book I just kind of shrugged, but as I was thinking later and writing down some notes for the review, the more I realized how much I didn’t like it. Yesterday after finishing that damn book, I couldn’t really decide what I felt like reading. I went home and looked at my books and still couldn’t decide… and then when I was about to leave for work I grabbed Prey by Michael Crichton so that’s what I read at work today. It turned out to be the perfect pick, because I practically devoured it and was able to finish it right after I got home from work!

OK I’m gonna go get ready for date night now… I’m soooooo hungry.

Hope you guys are having an awesome weekend! What do you have planned for this week?

Fondue! / V-Day display at grocery store / Gabby! / My V-day flowers and balloon / The honeyman and I

Good morning!

Sarah update: Well, I had a relatively good week. A little busy here and there, but overall good. AND Thursday was Valentine’s Day, which was obviously the most exciting part!

The honeyman and I both took V-Day off, because I really love V-Day and we don’t usually have a whole day off together. He brought home a balloon and flowers for me the night before, and then V-Day morning we exchanged cards & presents (well, my main present actually didn’t come until Friday) and then went and worked out at the gym. We then went and picked up our taxes from the accountant, and then we saw Warm Bodies. You guys, Warm Bodies was SO GOOD. It put an interesting spin on zombies, it was funny, and it was sweet. Totally worth buying the DVD later. Aaaaand now I want to read the book, which I’ve heard is a bit darker but probably still good.

Anyways, after the movie we went to The Melting Pot. The honeyman made reservations for us two weeks ahead of time, so YAY him for being awesome. The Melting Pot was amazing. We sat in a little alcove booth that was so cozy and private. The food was AH-MAZ-ING. Like, I get fondue now. I’ve dunked stuff in chocolate before, and it was okay. This was fantastic. There were 4 courses, all super delicious. The service was awesome. They came and took our picture and put it in a little frame (part of the V-Day package), and also brought over two glasses of champagne. And seriously – THE FOOD. Dipping a perfect bite of cheesecake into melted milk chocolate and peanut butter may be the best thing I’ve ever tasted.

After dinner we went home, played Black Ops 2, and had some nice cozy time before I had to get up and get ready for work. Yeah, I had to work at 2 am on Friday… really should have thought about that, but oh well. Work on Friday sucked because I was super-tired, but V-Day was awesome and that’s all that matters. I love spending time with the honeyman. I must like him or something.

Oh, and my main V-Day present?

Gerber 31-000705 Gator Machete Pro, Nylon Sheath

He gets me.

He gets me a weapon for V-day every year, and this is what I asked for this year. Glen uses something like this in The Walking Dead. AWESOME.

Worked out a few times this week, and my treadmill intervals are STILL kicking my ass. But instead of alternating 1 minute walking and 1 minute running for 20 minutes or so, now I’m alternating walking for 1.5 minutes and running for 1.5 minutes, for 20 to 25 minutes. Soooo, that’s good I guess? I don’t think I’m ever going to be a “runner”, but it’s a fun challenge I suppose. Oh and I’m still maintaining my weight, so that’s cool.

This coming week I’m working 68 to 74 hours, which is going to suck. I spent time this weekend trying to get a little ahead on posts. But reading might be slow this week (whatever, it’s been a bit slow all month), and my internet time will be somewhat limited. Don’t miss me too much.

How I'll probably feel at the end of this week...

How I’ll probably feel at the end of this week…

What’s good is that after next Sunday, I’ll have NINE days off. Sure, at least half of that will be spent recovering from having my wisdom teeth taken out, but at least I won’t be at work!

Bookish update: Ummmm yeah. The only book I finished this week was the third Harry Potter book for the readalong. Oh, and I finished One Good Earl Deserves a Lover last Sunday while I was at work, but that was just a fluffy mindless read and barely worth reviewing, even though I did.

I started The Prince and The Pauper last weekend… ugh. I got like 70 pages in, and I don’t know if I’m going to bother reading the last 120 pages or so. It’s so SLOW. Just proves that picking the shortest classics doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be easier to read than longer ones.

I finally got to start the second Ketty Jay book, The Black Lung Captain. Hooray! I’m about 2/3 of the way through it now. Loving these books. I even named my V-Day stuffed puppy Darian Frey after the captain in this series (and yes, the honeyman gets me stuffed animals for V-Day too, and I usually name them after a male character from books or movies I’m loving at the time). I’m going to try to fit in Me Before You and/or The Martian Chronicles this week, if work isn’t too hectic and annoying. (Rebecca, interested in reading The Martian Chronicles this week? I remember you mentioned maybe reading it together!)

OH and yesterday I decided to sign up for the Vanity Fair readalong. It’s going to be tough to cram the first half of the book into the next two weeks, but I really want to feel like I’m making progress on my Classics Club list and I’ve heard good things.

And finally, some links to interesting stuff:

Alright folks, I’m off to do worky stuff now. Enjoy your Sunday!!!

Sarah Sunday – New Year’s Edition!

new years countdown

It’s almost 2013! I’m excited for the new year. I don’t expect this upcoming year to be easy, necessarily – but I’m ready for a new year all the same. This year was a bit more eventful than I usually like. Wanna take a trip down memory lane with me and look back at 2012? Of course you do! You saucy minx.

  • Well, I turned 25! Yup, I hit the quarter-of-a-century mark. I don’t feel like a grown-up yet. It’s awesome.
  • Grandma passed away in April. It was a tough time for my family, but she was in her 90′s and had had a stroke 5 years ago and pancreatic cancer, so it was good that she could finally be at rest. I miss her a lot.2012-04-10_09-11-16_234-1
  • In May, we got Gabby! She is the BEST kitty ever. I’m madly in love with her, and madly in love with the honeyman for getting her for us.
SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA

She was so teeny tiny!

  • The honeyman and I celebrated 5 years together! Hell yes, we are awesome. I can’t wait for more <3
  • Sometime during the summer, my dad got himself arrested and is in jail now, basically for being a drunken idiot. So, there’s that…
  • In August I had kind of a freak-out when I got weighed at the doctor’s and came up 190 lbs. I immediately started working out and counting calories, and I lost almost 30 lbs and am perfectly happy with where I am now. It’s not the best weight-loss story ever, but I’m healthier, happier, and managed to avoid letting my weight get out of control. So yay.
awesome new purse

Most recent picture of me. I’m too lazy to do a side-by-side picture of what I looked like before I lost weight right now, but I think I look pretty good. (ALSO, LOOK AT MY NEW PURSE!)

  • The honeyman got a new vehicle! His car was broken for a long time and we shared a car for a few months, and then he got this bad boy. It’s pretty awesome – I’m especially loving how well it handles in all this snow. (He doesn’t know it, but the honeyman is going to be driving me around a lot this winter.)

NEW JEEP

And that’s 2012 in a nutshell. Looking back at last year’s end of 2011 post, I didn’t do SO well on my goals for 2012. I was NOT less busy – if anything, I was even more busy. That sucks. And I still don’t get enough sleep. But I did get healthier! So hooray for that. And I did take more pictures, even if 97% of them are of Gabby. I failed EPICALLY at my reading goals this year. I read less than 90 books, and failed all of the challenges I signed up for. Womp womp. I’ll be doing some sort of 2012 Bookish Survey thing tomorrow.

I already did a post about my goals for 2013, so I won’t bore you with that again. Time to put this year behind us and start looking forward, yes? Yes. IT’S ON, 2013!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Christmas is the best.

xmas chipmunks

Merry Day-After Christmas Day! I’m one of the lucky ducks that did NOT have to go to work today, so I got to sleep in and do other stuff. But since since I’m home now, I thought I’d share pictures and stuff you with you! It could wait until Sarah Sunday, but I have free time now and no review to post, so there we have it. Click to embiggen pictures.

01Christmas Day

So, some various Christmas Day pictures. I wish I had taken more of my siblings, nephew L, and the tree and stuff. I think my siblings took a lot of pictures though, so I need them to text some to me. I was busy cookin and stuff. Also, my hair looks terrible in that picture. I need to get my hair trimmed, but I kind of ran out of time/money last week.

02 Christmas gifts

This was the first Christmas morning I’ve got to have with the honeyman in at least 2 years, so it was very exciting to wake up and make coffee and open stuff together. Some of the amazing things he bought for me – ROTATING EFFING BOOK SHELF, this amazing purse that can be worn a bunch of different ways, including as a thigh rig, books, all three Adele cds, the complete series of Charmed in that fancy Book of Shadows case, Outlander book charm, Hyperspace by Michio Kaku, Attachments by Rainbow Rowell, an Amazon gift card, a tragic-guy leather jacket, and other things. He’s the best. And seriously, YAY for bookish gifts!

Also, I was very lucky to receive a Keurig Elite from friends, a 3-tier oven rack (and serving spoons) from my sister Heather, Jam by Yahtzee Croshaw from my brother EJ, some tee shirts, picture frames from my little sister Amanda, and other just awesome stuff and everybody is the best and I love them.

03 more Christmas gifts

I am SO excited about so much of this stuff guys, you have no idea. The honeyman is supposed to put my new bookshelf together this weekend, and there will definitely be pictures of it coming.

Some things I was super excited to give to the honeyman: a gunstock war club, Wii U, games, movies, and high-precision gaming dice.

Not that everything was all materialistic and whatnot. The best part of Christmas was that on Christmas Eve, Treland and I got to stay home and play Black Ops 2 together, make pizza, play Phase 10, drink hot cocoa and just generally hang out together. Christmas morning we unwrapped stuff, hooked up the Wii U, and were able to hang out together for a bit before people started coming over. I just loved having two days off with him :-)

The only lousy thing about Christmas this year? It’s the first Christmas I didn’t get to see my mom, cause she’s off travelling in North Carolina right now. It was weird not having a big thing at her house, even though I think it went pretty well having my siblings come here. And my dad is in jail of course, and this is the first Christmas since my grandma died. So I missed all of them a bit. Still, overall, this was a fantastic Christmas and a great holiday season. I’m going to be spending the next week thinking about what I want out of 2013, reading/blogging wise and whatnot. I’m sure I’ll end up doing some sort of 2012 wrap-up post later.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Tell me about any exciting presents you got or funny family stories! I’m off to watch Star Wars: The Phantom Menace now.

Good morning ladies & gents!

Sarah update: Wellll… this week was a BLUR! Basically, a routine visit to the doctor’s office on Monday resulted in a bit of an eye-opener when they weighed me. (My goodness, I hate that part.) I knew that I’ve gained some (a lot) weight, especially since I switched to this job about 2 years ago, but still. Actually seeing the scale come out at “190″ resulted in a bit of a panic attack on my part. I’m only 5’2″, I CANNOT let myself get to 200 lbs. Just absolutely cannot happen. So, I don’t even have a choice about it anymore – I have to lose some weight and get back in shape. That same day I downloaded the MyFitnessPal app on my phone (my name on there is SarahCLS, if anyone else uses it too) and started working out.

I’m not going to turn my blog into some sort of “weight-loss journey” crap, cause that is BORING. But I am going to sporadically mention any exciting updates. So far I’ve lost 1 lb. Ideally, I’d be around 160 – that’s about where I was at before I took this job, and I was okay with that. I’m trying to focus more on just being healthy and strong rather than my exact weight though. I’d just like to be able to survive in a zombie apocalypse.

I’m feeling pretty good so far – I already feel a little better, and I’m not even THAT miserable at having to watch what I eat or go work out. In fact, working out has been kind of fun so far. I can’t wait to get my own gym membership, but until then I go workout as a guest with my sis or the honeyman. AND the honeyman bought me Skele-toes running shoes (the ones with the separate toes) and I can’t wait to try them out. The ONLY downside to all this being healthy crap is the hour or two I use up in exercising – cause normally I’d be sitting on my ass, drinking coffee and reading or messing around online. But on the plus-side, now when I’m singing “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO and I get to the “I work ouuut” part, it’s true. So you know, there’s that.

So, that’s my big life-change update. Fun. OH and even more importantly, I discovered this week that there’s finally a Pinterest app for Droid! How did I miss this??? I will be pinning ALL THE TIME.

I also got to hang out with my sister Heather this week, which included going to a jewelry party at her house and I got to bring Steph with me to that, which was fun! Yay for real-life blogging buddies :-) Also, it’s date night tonight and I’m excited to go out and see a movie or something and just generally spend some time with the honeyman, cause it’s been a hectic week.

I wanted to take a picture with Gabby, but she was not having it. On the plus side, I love this shirt.

I just realized how giant my hand looks in this picture, lol. It’s cause it’s so close to the mirror, I swear.

Bookish update: I’ve started reading Shadow of Night, which is the sequel to A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. I’m over halfway through it and it’s pretty good, though it started off a little slow. And in the next couple days I’ll be reading the last section for The Moonstone readalong! How sad that it’s almost over.

Other than that, there’s not a whole else to report! Since I’m making September readalong-free, I was thinking of re-reading A Breath of Snow & Ashes, which is the sixth Outlander book. It’d be nice if I could finish my re-read of the whole series (to-date) by the end of the year.

So that’s been my week! How are you guys doing? Any fun plans for this week?

Sarah Sunday!

Hi guys!

Sarah update: Even though not a whole lot happened this week, it still felt really busy because of Armchair BEA. I spent most of Monday cleaning and blogging / commenting, more cleaning and blogging on Tuesday and then game night, and then Wednesday was a blur of internet and naps before I went back to work on Thursday. Armchair BEA was a lot of fun, but I don’t know if I’ll sign up to be a commenter again because while it was fun, it was also A CRAPLOAD of time spent online and I was just unprepared for it, lol. Luckily work was mostly not busy this week – I re-watched the entire season 3 of True Blood, so that the honeyman and I can start watching season 4 tonight for date night (shhhhh no spoilers cause we haven’t seen it yet!). I read a lot, I went online a lot, blah blah blah. Oh and Amanda was supposed to come into town this week to car shop, but she didn’t so she’s coming this Monday night. Can’t wait to see her and L :-)

I did got the chance to hang out with my brother Monday night for an hour of two – we went to the mall and got coffee, and then went to Dick’s to look at weapons cause all those zombie-like incidents were still hot in the news. He actually ended up buying a pretty kick-ass little handaxe that has a knife IN the handle. Very cool. And ya know, it was nice to hang out with my brother a bit, since we don’t really see each other on a regular basis. Oh and I got him a How I Met Your Mother tee-shirt that says “It’s going to be legen-waitforit-dary” for his birthday and he really liked it. I’m going to hang out with my sis Heather this week, we’re going to go to Lane Bryant to use up out Real Women dollars and I’m very excited about that. I miss buying stuff there all the time when I worked there, lol.

Oh, and one of the best things this week was me discovering this “Childfree” Pinterest board

HILARIOUS and true.

Bookish update: So not much because of the whole Armchair BEA thing, but I did manage to read one book this week and it was AWESOME – Feed by Mira Grant. I just finished it at work today and duuuude it was so good! I rented it from the library this week, but after I finished I left work and went straight to Barnes and Noble and bought my own copy, plus the sequel Deadline. And now I’m going to be pushing it on my sister Heather and the honeyman to read ASAP so that we can all talk about it. My review should hopefully be up tomorrow.

OK and that’s all the updating I have time for. I tried to type this up at work today, but the internet stopped working halfway through my shift, so that sucked. And I’m attempting to make lasagna for the first time, so I gotta go get started on that.

Hope everyone’s had a lovely weekend!

~Sarah

Good morning ya’ll!

Sarah update: Not much, I suppose. I had a nice, lovely 4 days off this past week. I was actually able to finish a book during my days off, which hardly ever happens. But, this week did of course fly by. We had game night, which was fun and lovely. It’s basically the only time I ever get to play Call of Duty anymore, but surprisingly enough I’m usually still good at it. I also got to hang out with my sister Heather and Emma and Josh (my niece and nephew) on Wednesday. I did some flashcards with Josh for his homework, and he did a pretty good job, but Emma surprised us all by shouting out some of the math answers and reading some of the cards. She’s only 4, so yay for her! And then me and Heather started watching season 2 of The Big Bang Theory and ate possibly one of my favorite new desserts - coffee ice cream with mini cannolis. And I borrowed TBBT and will probably finish this season while I’m at work. Luckily, I already have season 3 from the library.

Oh, and naturally the other big thing this week was in the news – zombie-like incidents. While I’m a skeptic and obviously there isn’t a huge outbreak right now… I’m also suspicious. Cause I’ve never really heard of “bath salts” being a hot drug and it’s weird that all of the sudden several cases where it turns people into crazy cannibals just sprung up out of no where. I guess we’ll see. The honeyman and I are definitely going shopping for some more apocalypse-survival stuff soon, cause we’re paranoid (and smart) like that.

Anyways, this coming week is actually looking not that great. It’s the week where I only have 3 days off (booooo) and my sis Amanda is coming for a night with baby L. Which is great cause I miss them, but will take up a lot of time because I’m driving her around on Tuesday to look at cars for sale. This means probably definitely cancelling game night this week, plus I’m going to be scrambling to keep up with stuff online; It’s Armchair BEA this week, and not only am I participating but I’m also on the commenting committee, so I’m going to be online a LOT this week. Bad timing for Amanda to come, but oh well. She does really need a car, so how can I say no? Plus I get to see L :-)

Oh, and Gabby has been nuts this week. She woke me up Monday morning by attacking my face, and she’s just been super hyper and wanting to rough house a bit. She’s also learned that by using her sharp little kitty claws, she can climb all the way up me when I’m standing in the kitchen. She thinks anytime I’m in the kitchen is time to give her food, so even when I’m doing dishes or making the honeyman’s lunch for work, she’s climbing up me. And it’s starting to wear on my jeans a bit. Very bad kitty. But she’s also had her super sweet moments this week, when she takes naps with me or waits at the door for us to come home, so I can’t stay annoyed with her :-)

My god, I’m one of those people who can’t stop talking about their pet.

Bookish update: I finished 3 books this week, and DNF-ed another. I finished Maus 1 & 2 by Art Spiegelman, A Night Like This by Julia Quinn, and American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I DNF-ed The Duke is Mine by Eloisa James, and wrote a post about my reasons for quitting it. That’s a lot of books in one week for me! I have to say that thanks to the Bout of Books readathon earlier in the month, May has been my best reading month of the year. I think I ended up finishing about 13 books, which is awesome. I hope I can keep it up through June.

Oh and this week started the Married With Zombies scavenger-hunt readalong and it is SO much fun. The scavenger-hunt part is what makes it the most fun (besides me getting to re-read this awesome book) and I’m really enjoying it.

What else… I also got a TON of books from the library this week. I put like 10 on hold, and sure at $1 a hold that added up but it’s worth it. I got a bunch of physics books out, that I’m probably going to look through to see if I want to purchase them or not and if I’m lucky, I’ll get to read 1 or 2 before returning them. I also got some fiction books out that I’m really excited about, but I’m too lazy to remember them all right now. It was very exciting though, almost like real book shopping.

Oh and I’m still reading Visions of the Multiverse, which is good so far but I’m not going any farther in it until at least after Amanda leaves this week. It’s about to go into some more complex topics about quantum physics and I don’t want to start it and then forget it while I’m busy doing other stuff.

OK folks, that’s all the updating I have in me today. I’m going to go warm up some breakfast and spend most of the rest of my shift watching The Big Bang Theory. Yay!

Hope everyone has an awesome week!

~Sarah

Men's Rules for Women

The honeyman thought this was funny. I disagree on some points but overall, yeah it made me laugh.

Good morning people!

Sarah update: SO. My few days off earlier this week were pretty laid back – I cleaned, read a little bit, caught up on some Cougar Town and Glee episodes, took naps with the kitty, etc. Finally got my brakes done, so yay no more grinding as I drive. Of course as soon as work started on Thursday, it was a horrible day. My mp3 player stopped working, work was insanely busy and I was really tired, and I stubbed my toe on a stupid cart at the grocery store and it started bleeding. It was a really rough day.

Thursday night we went over to my sister’s house so that her husband could do my brakes, and after dinner we ended up hanging out for a bit and we watched the first two episodes of The Big Bang Theory and yeah I totally fell in love. I’ve had the first season for over a month but was trying to catch up on other tv-watching before starting it, but I brought it to work with me this weekend and already finished it. Love it! Especially Leonard and Sheldon :-) I was surprised that Penny wasn’t around that much, but from what I understand she’s more of a main character in the later seasons. I need to go buy season 2 ASAP.

What else… I finally scheduled my vacation days for July, and taking 4 days off from work will give me an 11-day long vacation. I cannot wait, for serious. I’m also taking a random Sunday off in July because me and my friend are going to have a girl’s night the night before, which will be fun and full of drinking.

This week coming up should be quite nice. I’ll have 4 days off. My little brother’s birthday is on Tuesday, he’s turning 19. Holy crap. Not so little anymore. I am kind of excited about the present I got him though. So I expect at some point we’ll be doing something to celebrate that, and I have to go to the library this week… and that’s about it. OH and True Blood season 4 comes out on Tuesday which means the honeyman and I will be spending LOTS of time watching that.

Tonight is date night, but I think we might be staying in. Well, we might go out for food, but otherwise our plan is to watch some of the first seasons of Archer and The Big Bang Theory. I’ve only seen one episode of Archer before and it was pretty funny, so I’m looking forward to that too.

Oh and we got Gabby one of those cardboard scratching-board things and she loves it. Mainly cause there’s a little butterfly on a spring attached to it and she goes nuts attacking it. Cutest thing ever, I swear.

Bookish update: I haven’t finished any books since the readathon. I did start one romance novel, but I’m DNF-ing it and I’ll probably write about that tomorrow or something. I’ve started reading Visions of the Multiverse by Steven Manly and that’s pretty good so far. And I should be finishing American Gods today, as it’s the last week for the readalong.

In other much more exciting news, there are two readalongs coming up in June that you guys NEED to know about and should probably join…

Outlander Read-a-long

Married With Zombies SCAVENGER HUNT Read-a-long

You know how much I love Outlander, and if you’ve ever considered reading it then June would be the perfect time! I won’t be reading along because I’ve read it like 3 or 4 times already, but I’m definitely going to be following the discussions and probably chiming in here and there.

The Married With Zombies readalong sounds amazing. I’m going to be doing a sign-up post later to help spread the word, but in the meantime just click the link. MWZ is SUCH a fun zombie book- possibly the best of its kind, because it’s really funny too. It’s a short, easy read too. And I have never heard of a Scavenger Hunt readalong before, but it sounds like SO. MUCH. FUN. I literally cannot wait to participate.

Also, I’m thinking I might do an In-My-Mailbox type of post later this week… I’m not doing the actual meme anymore, but screw it I don’t need a meme to share the awesome books that I’ve accrued with all of you, right? Right.

So, I think that’s all my updating for today. I hope everyone has a great  week!!!

~Sarah

Lunch, Instagram for Android

Thank you Instagram for making my food look so much cooler than it would in a normal picture.

Sarah update:  Hey guys! It’s been a good week. Had my last day working at Lane Bryant (I’ll miss the discount), celebrated my friend Doni’s birthday, and generally relaxed and stayed at home. Worked on Friday and Saturday and today. The readathon was yesterday morning to this morning, and I participated as much as I could.

I think I’m FINALLY over my flu or cold or whatever it was. It lasted like a week and a half, and I still have a cough sometimes, but I think overall I’m pretty healed. I’m hoping to get some time this week to kind of build myself back up because I think I’m still a little weak from being sick and trying to rest a lot. I need to take some walks or something. Hopefully the weather holds up for that. I’m also hoping to get a lot of reading time at home this week, and MAYBE a little bit of socializing. Maybe.

Oh, and I now have Instagram on my phone! I was happy it finally came out for Android, but I almost didn’t download it because I’m annoyed that Facebook bought it. But, it’s fun and kind of addicting. Instagram and the WordPress app both saved my ass during this readathon, it made updating from work so much easier.

Oh and I bought the new Jason Mraz cd that came out on Tuesday, Love. I haven’t gotten a chance to listen to it yet, but I’m excited.

my books, currently reading

Bookish update: Well, I managed to finish two books – If You Ask Me (And Of Course You Won’t) by Betty White, and Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan. I already started working on the reviews, so those should be up within the next couple of days.

I’m still re-reading The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon, but I only have 180 pages left and I’m hoping to finish it today. I started Physics of the Future by Michio Kaku yesterday during the readathon, so I’m going to continue to read that as well because it’s VERY interesting. And I’m hoping that after finishing one or both of these books that I’ll be able to start Sacre Bleu by Christopher Moore next.

Friday was a very happy night for me because I did some book shopping – I went into the store saying I would only buy two, and came out with four! :-) I’m kind of lazy right now, but they’ll be in the IMM for April. I also ordered a couple of books that became available from my Paperbackswap wishlist. Can’t wait till they get here!

Oh, and this week I’m also hoping to finally finish scanning / logging all of my books, and then I’ll be coming here to show off pictures of my bookshelves and go on and on about how awesome the Book Catalogue app is.

Anyways, I think that’s all the updating I have for today. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday, and getting lots of rest if you just finished the readathon!

Sarah Sunday! (And Happy Easter too)

So this isn’t really so much a SS post, because ya’ll know that I was sick, my grandma is dying, etc etc. There’s not much to update other than that.

So Happy Easter! It’s not a real important holiday for my family, but we’re still doing a little dinner today. And though Grandma’s not really aware of too much right now, I like to think that she’ll know we’re all around her and that’ll make her happy. I’m making two chicken pot pies, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, and my mom is making a ham. And I’ll stop and buy bread, salad stuff, and dessert too before heading over to my mom’s. Amanda and my little nephew L are in town, though no thanks to Amanda’s ex (L’s father) – the bastard cut my sister’s break lines and put sugar in her gas tank. DRAMA, but I hope someone beats his ass, Amanda and L could’ve really gotten hurt. My little brother drove out to pick them up last night, and though we’re all super pissed we’re going to try to enjoy the day. And I get to see my little nephew!

Anyhoo, I have a crap ton of cooking and stuff to do, so I’ll leave you with this, in the spirit of Easter:
