Sarah Sunday!

Good morning everybody!

Sarah update: Well, not a whole lot luckily. Work, and being home, and that’s about it. I got to talk to my mom this week, which was nice. I’m not used to going more than a week without seeing her, but she’s having fun travelling and doing craft shows right now and after she spent 5 years staying in one place and taking care of Grandma, I can’t blame her. She’ll hopefully be home in a couple weeks, and hopefully she’ll stay for a couple days before heading out again.

I’ve been watching season 2 of Downton Abbey this week – I only have to finish the Christmas episode. I can’t believe I’ll have to wait until sometime next year to see season 3. This season is pretty good and has made me cry here and there, but it’s getting a little soap-opera-y for my taste. I hope it’s a little different next season. I’m also re-watching season 4 of The Big Bang Theory with the honeyman, cause he hasn’t seen it all yet.

This coming week should be relaxing and I’m hoping to get a lot of reading done. And maybe get some sewing or something done. I’m so happy to be back on a regular schedule. I stopped into LB the other day to pay my credit card bill and I saw my old manager. She really wants me to come back for the holiday season, and I told her I’d think about it and let her know by September when she’s starting to hire seasonally. Part of me is tempted to take it because I miss the discount and socializing a bit with the other girls who work there, but part of me doesn’t want to because I really want to just enjoy this Christmas. I’ve had to work on Christmas Day for the last two years, but I won’t have to this year and I am SO EXCITED.

Oh, and yesterday I finally put a ton of pictures from my camera and from my phone on the computer, which of course led to a lot of browsing and looking at older pics. We got Gabby about 3 months ago and she was so tiny! I miss her being this itty bitty little fur ball. She’s already starting to looking like a big kitty and she’s not even 6 months old yet. Seriously, I love her to pieces, even though she’s driving me crazy now because she keeps trying to dart out the door when we leave and can jump up to the counter now.

Top: Gabby when we got her 3 months ago.
Bottom: Gabby now.
Awwwwwwww.

Bookish update: Well, last weekend was the mini-readathon and it was fun but I SO need to plan better next time. Also, it’s becoming obvious to me that it’s kind of hard to read with someone in real life during the readathon because you just end up talking a lot. Anyways, the Bout of Books readathon is in about a week and I’m very excited about that. I enjoy the weeklong readathons a lot.

I’m doing yet another readalong this month, this time it’s The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins, and the readalong is hosted by Alice. I already finished the first section yesterday, and it’s kind of awesome so far. I’m itching to read more, but I’m supposed to wait until at least Wednesday. I’m still reading Great Expectations, which honestly is starting to drag big-time. I’m over halfway through it and I really don’t want to quit, so I’m thinking I might go ahead and watch the DVD of it that I bought and maybe that will re-inspire me to finish the book. Oh and last night I started Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. I’m only 1 chapter into it and it’s okay so far, but I’m having trouble wrapping my head around all the new words and terminology that the author created. Hopefully it’ll just click soon.

Aaaaand I think that’s about it for now. I’m going to go enjoy the rest of the day, and then it’s date night tonight! I think we’re going to go see that comedy movie The Watch.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Gabby’s new favorite spot to relax.

 Good morning everyone!

Sarah update: I had a pretty lovely week. Monday I relaxed, did some laundry, and ran some errands. My sis Amanda and baby L came into town Monday night, which was exciting but they got there so late that we kind of all went to sleep soon after. Tuesday I went and had lunch with some girls from LB while Amanda borrowed my car so that she could go car shopping for herself, and by the time she picked me up she had bought a car and was just waiting to go pick it up. Which we then did, and we drove her new car (a black 2001 Honda Civic, in case anyone cares) to The Olive Garden and had a great dinner of soup and salad. And then we did a small bit of shopping before she had to head back home. I stayed at home all day Wednesday and did nothing (I took like two naps) and then my older sister Heather came over for dinner, and we went shopping because we had coupons to use at LB. Plus I bought 5 really cute henley tee shirts at Old Navy, because that store is evil and they were so cheap and adorable. And Thursday guess what I did? Nothing. I read a little bit, I cleaned out the linen closet, and that was about it.

After work on Friday I went to see my father – an event in of itself only because he hasn’t spoken to me or my siblings in like two and a half months. I’m too lazy to go into the whole story, but we talked some stuff out. Nothing’s really better… he’s still an asshole, but I made the decision a long time ago that I want to stay in contact with all of my family, so that I have no regrets later on. So you know, I guess that’s okay.

This coming week is going to be a lot less fun, because it’s the week that the temp co-worker is quitting and we’re going to start training a new temp. Unfortunately until this new temp is trained and we’re sure he can be on his own, it means some 60+ hour work weeks for me. I’m hoping that he’s all trained and we’re happy with his progress within a month, because I scheduled my vacation for later next month and there’s no way I’m changing that. Oh well… at least this’ll be a few really good paychecks, right?

Gabby was totally feeling cuddly this day. She kept laying down next to Treland to get her belly rubbed. Cutie-pie :)

Bookish update: Well, first off I feel like I was a very lazy blogger this week. I didn’t post a lot, and while I scrolled through my Google Reader I was really lazy about commenting. And I was hardly on Twitter. I suppose I was going through an internet-detox after ABEA, lol. So you know, sorry if you missed me :)

In other news, I finished Feed in the beginning of last week and holy crap was it fantastic. And then I finished Deadline, the second book of the trilogy, yesterday and it was also fantastic, and I’m going to start the last book, Blackout, today. I have been DYING to talk to people about these books.

And then it came to me in a dream. Actually, it came to me at The Distillery, but anyways – I had an idea. And if you guys seem into it, then let’s do it. I’m thinking about hosting my first ever readalong of Feed. My review seems to have gotten a few people excited and wanting to read it, and if I hosted a readalong for it then we could all read it at the same time (re-read for me, obviously) and more importantly we could talk about it! Cause that’s what readalongs are for! It would be pretty laid back but SO MUCH FUN.

If you’re interested in a Feed readalong then leave me a comment saying so, and please mention what month you’d prefer it in – July or August. If let’s say at least… 5 people are willing to join then it’s ON! I’m more in favor of July because I’m impatient, but I understand if you guys already have readalongs or something planned for next month. So you know… let me know!

Sarah Sunday!

Men's Rules for Women

The honeyman thought this was funny. I disagree on some points but overall, yeah it made me laugh.

Good morning people!

Sarah update: SO. My few days off earlier this week were pretty laid back – I cleaned, read a little bit, caught up on some Cougar Town and Glee episodes, took naps with the kitty, etc. Finally got my brakes done, so yay no more grinding as I drive. Of course as soon as work started on Thursday, it was a horrible day. My mp3 player stopped working, work was insanely busy and I was really tired, and I stubbed my toe on a stupid cart at the grocery store and it started bleeding. It was a really rough day.

Thursday night we went over to my sister’s house so that her husband could do my brakes, and after dinner we ended up hanging out for a bit and we watched the first two episodes of The Big Bang Theory and yeah I totally fell in love. I’ve had the first season for over a month but was trying to catch up on other tv-watching before starting it, but I brought it to work with me this weekend and already finished it. Love it! Especially Leonard and Sheldon :-) I was surprised that Penny wasn’t around that much, but from what I understand she’s more of a main character in the later seasons. I need to go buy season 2 ASAP.

What else… I finally scheduled my vacation days for July, and taking 4 days off from work will give me an 11-day long vacation. I cannot wait, for serious. I’m also taking a random Sunday off in July because me and my friend are going to have a girl’s night the night before, which will be fun and full of drinking.

This week coming up should be quite nice. I’ll have 4 days off. My little brother’s birthday is on Tuesday, he’s turning 19. Holy crap. Not so little anymore. I am kind of excited about the present I got him though. So I expect at some point we’ll be doing something to celebrate that, and I have to go to the library this week… and that’s about it. OH and True Blood season 4 comes out on Tuesday which means the honeyman and I will be spending LOTS of time watching that.

Tonight is date night, but I think we might be staying in. Well, we might go out for food, but otherwise our plan is to watch some of the first seasons of Archer and The Big Bang Theory. I’ve only seen one episode of Archer before and it was pretty funny, so I’m looking forward to that too.

Oh and we got Gabby one of those cardboard scratching-board things and she loves it. Mainly cause there’s a little butterfly on a spring attached to it and she goes nuts attacking it. Cutest thing ever, I swear.

Bookish update: I haven’t finished any books since the readathon. I did start one romance novel, but I’m DNF-ing it and I’ll probably write about that tomorrow or something. I’ve started reading Visions of the Multiverse by Steven Manly and that’s pretty good so far. And I should be finishing American Gods today, as it’s the last week for the readalong.

In other much more exciting news, there are two readalongs coming up in June that you guys NEED to know about and should probably join…

Outlander Read-a-long

Married With Zombies SCAVENGER HUNT Read-a-long

You know how much I love Outlander, and if you’ve ever considered reading it then June would be the perfect time! I won’t be reading along because I’ve read it like 3 or 4 times already, but I’m definitely going to be following the discussions and probably chiming in here and there.

The Married With Zombies readalong sounds amazing. I’m going to be doing a sign-up post later to help spread the word, but in the meantime just click the link. MWZ is SUCH a fun zombie book- possibly the best of its kind, because it’s really funny too. It’s a short, easy read too. And I have never heard of a Scavenger Hunt readalong before, but it sounds like SO. MUCH. FUN. I literally cannot wait to participate.

Also, I’m thinking I might do an In-My-Mailbox type of post later this week… I’m not doing the actual meme anymore, but screw it I don’t need a meme to share the awesome books that I’ve accrued with all of you, right? Right.

So, I think that’s all my updating for today. I hope everyone has a great  week!!!

~Sarah
