Monkey. Avenue Q. Amanda & L. Ready Player One.
Good morning everyone!
Sarah update: So. Busy week this has been! I can’t believe I only have 5 more days left of my vacation
A day-by-day rundown is hardly necessary, except to say that this week has me MAXED THE EFF OUT on social time. Lots of visiting with sisters and my brother and nephews and niece… phew. During this one week, I went to an amusement park twice, shopped a lot, saw a play, went out to eat a lot, hosted game night, went out of town and back again… You know, on top of normal housework and running errands. Yeah. It was a lot.
The highlight of this week was of course my 5-Year Anniversary with the honeyman. Our anniversary is actually 3 days long (7-18 to 7-20) and I realized that I never really shared that story, so here we go: A tiny bit longer than 5 years ago, the honeyman and I were just friends who hung out and talked on the phone a lot, and then one awkward night we went to the park to walk around and the honeyman told me that he liked me. And I returned that affection. And then, completely blind-sided by the fact that I shared those feelings, the honeyman said he needed to think, which of course confused me, but okay. And then two days later, via text message, we agreed to go for it. That last part isn’t very romantic, right? But it’s also very us – we have feelings, but we also think before we act. So, our anniversary is 3 days long, and I feel much more kindly to that first awkward night in the park <3 Yup. That’s our story. Sweet, ain’t it? It’s been an absolutely amazing, wonderful, fun 5 years and I totally can’t wait for more.
Anyhoo, we celebrated by eating at one of our favorite restaurants, relaxing, going to see the play Avenue Q, and going to the amusement park. All very fun and exciting, but the best is that the honeyman took some time off to have a 4-day weekend, so we got to spend lots of time together. Throughout a normal week, we don’t have any whole days off together, so 4 in a row is pretty amazing.
This past week was a blast, but I cannot tell you how much I’m looking forward to doing a whole lot of nothing all by myself this week. I’m so sad I have to go back to work on Friday!
Oh yeah, and that monkey was at the Amanda and L’s birthday party (can’t believe L is 1 already!). Also, Avenue Q was so fun and awesome and I’ve had the songs stuck in my head ever since we saw it.

The honeyman being very, very silly.
Bookish update: Not a whole lot to tell here. I finished one book, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, and it was pretty epic and I can’t wait to write a review for it. I’m still reading along with The Graveyard Book. I only bought one book this week – The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins – wooooooo readalong! Also, I’m still reading Great Expectations but due to how insanely busy it’s been this week, I haven’t made a whole lotta progress. I’m almost halfway through it. Plus, I got sucked unto Ready Player One really hard and devoted the little reading time I did have to that.
Have you guys seen that #dailybookpic thing on Twitter? It’s a bookish photo-a-day thing that BookRiot started, and they featured one of my pics on their website! Go see it here. I was entirely too excited when I saw that. Awesome!
OH and the Sarah Says Read Summer Mini-Readathon is only one week away! I have decided what the mini-challenges / prize system is going to be, but in the interest of not attracting people who are only interested in prizes, I’m not telling what it is until that morning! So you know, if you want to read along with some awesome people for a 12-hour period on next Sunday, you should sign up. Remember, ANY 12-hour period on Sunday. And even if you end up only being able to read for like 2 hours, it’s okay. It’s the trying that counts, right?
So, that about wraps it up for me! I hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead of them! And I leave you with this gorgeous picture of Gabby, which I Instagrammed / tweeted earlier this week but I can’t get over how big and how awesome she is.
~Sarah

I love this picture of Gabby. She’s so purrrrty.

Gabby’s grown so much since you first got her!! She’s still adorable, there’s just more of her to find adorable
I love that you guys were friends before you started dating!
Sounds like a busy, but also really fun week! I’m so glad you and the honeyman got to spend time together and the story of how you two got together is really sweet!
Enjoy your days off and try not to think of Friday too much during them!
Also, I’ve still got nothing going on next Sunday except the read-a-thon, YAY!
What a cute story! I was good friends with my husband first before we started dating so I think any story of good friends slowly becoming more is great.
Congratulations to you guys!
Congrats on your anniversary! Sounds like you had a crazy busy week. But yay Ready Player One! I loved that book – it absolutely does suck you in. Looking forward to your review!
Gabby is insanely gorgeous!
Congrats on your anniversary with your guy! I love that it’s a 3-day thing … my hubby and I usually have a nice dinner and that’s it. I must take a page from your book!
And yay … the Sarah Readathon!!! Turns out hubby is working over the weekend so I can totally participate! I’m working so hard on getting through my pile of review books and making a MAJOR dent in it. It feels so good! Then I can start concentrating on the SHELVES of unread books in my home library. It’s INSANE!
That sucks that your vacation is winding down … they always go by too fast, don’t they? But then, it’s always nice when life resumes its normalcy. At least, I think so. Sometimes.
Enjoy your week — and your last 5 days!
What a sweet story! Congratulations on your anniversary!
Gabby’s got really big so fast, it seems you’ve just got her.
Sadly, I won’t be joining Sarah Mini-readathon this time around. As I thought we’ll have this family thing and it’s going to be very late before I come home, so I’ll just fall in bed then. Well, there’s always next time. I’ll be cheering everyone on in my thoughts, though!
Enjoy the last days of your vacation!
Aww, you and your maaan- such a sweet story
. Also, your sister totally looks like you! Or you look like her. Whatever. And now I regret saying that because you’ve probably heard that before, as have I and it always bugs me. And look at that, I’m still going!
Ahem. READATHON, YAAAAY!
